Bar prices in Cambodia
Anyone know how much it would cost to buy a bar in a decent soi in Cambodia??
I've heard its not any key-money bullshit over there.......Then again the police might be harder to handle....................Might go there for a visa run next month to have a look.

Have a look around Sihanoukville, its a place on the up... I was chatting to an Irish guy that runs/owns a bar there. He reckoned it was a lot easier and more straight forward than running a bar in LOS... I can't remember any figures that he was quoting but he was a good guy.... The bar was called the "Emerald" and its in the town centre, the guys name is Carl and he's living there for a few years...
Sihanoukville is a fun and interesting place in other respects too... Something tells me you would feel at home there Ger....

One Swedish diving guy in Phuket moved to that place for maybe 2 years and then moved back to Phuket. The reason was his bad motorbike accident he had, I dont know about how well his business did (he had a guesthouse/restaurant). But knowing him, it should have been reasonable priced.

Thats the problem that I can only see. The cheap pricing because none of the "western" infrastructure is there. Its very good as lo0ng as nothing goes wrong that your not insured for.
Nearest good treatment is Bkk. So you have to factor that in to your pro's and con's.
Still Im available at short notice to you Geir! But not in that way!

in most of the places i went to in Cambodia it seemed to be mostly FL and not girls working for the bar
i would prefer it that way anyways since i really wouldnt want to be directly involved and recieve any money from p4p
that being said, there was a desperation to the p4p scene that i wouldnt want to be exposed to on a daily basis
i also did not care for about 90% of the farangs that i met in Cambodia, seemed a little disheveled and degenerates

Sounds like Geir and Sishow would fit in well.
Have read on another forum that a lot of expats in Thailand are looking for somewhere else to spend their time. Cambodia is a place that is mentioned very often as a substitute location.
Look at Phuket 25 years ago, is it much different to the developing parts of Cambodia today? Could be worth trying to get in at the start of a possible rush.

Vietnam would be my choice judging from what I have read about the place.
It may well be on the cards for a visit in 09 instead of LOS.

I was actually thinking about visit Vietnam myself with my family, then I found out you need a visa. I dont want to do several trips to BKK just to sort out the visa before I/we can go.
If anyone have experience in Vietnam visa I would like to hear more. AirAsia have cheap flights these days.

From looking at a couple websites, nine asian countries, including Thailand, and four scandinavian countries, including sweden, do not need visas for Vietnam, they seem to have a visa waiver program. You might check it out abit more though.

Nicke, If you hold a Swedish passport you can get a stamp on arrival. Done it a few times with a Danish passport.

Found a 10 room guesthouse with bar close to the beach in S.ville with a 7 year lease for 19k$. Rent 350$. Have no clue about the rates there tho..........Would be a bargain even if they only charged 20% of what they are doing in Patong
Interesting to have a look around, but Im probably safer in Patong where I know I can make a living.
