Chiang Mai night life
Well its been a LONG time since i last posted and boy have i been busy.... I've been working at the Mandarin Oriental in Chiang Mai and i have to say it is one of the most beautiful hotels i've ever seen. (Pics to come soon)
But on to the point, i've gotten to see the nightlife a fair bit and i'd like to add my two stang to the Chiang Mai nightlife info if anyone wants some...
Again depends on what you're looking for, but a good place to start the night with food, drinks and a live band is Riverside. Although i have begun to notice that most of the popular places here in CM all serve food, have a live band and a bar with cheap drinks... Very different to Bkk i have to say. But all in all still a good time just different.
From the riverside a you have many options, you can either try "monkey club", "Warm Up" or "Fashion House" all on the same road. Near by when these places close you can check out Discovery which is normally open later than warm up, fasion house and monkey's. Keep in mind all these places have a live band and a DJ. Not too much if any pay for play though so don't go up to the girls asking Tao Rai? Then a late night place open till about 6am is V Club, there you can ask the question of Tao rai, nice girls although many of them don't speak english. Although i've noticed their english has been getting better or maybe its just the ones i normally talk to but nevertheless i've been seeing more Farangs at this place so i'm sure the girl's english will improve by the time some of you get to check it out.
More to be continued...

Welcome back to the board. Looking forward to your reports. There is a chance that I may be doing a 2-3 day seminar in CM over the summer.

Good View is a good place by the river with band and food. There are some good places out by the Uni as well.
Always found it strange there seems to be more local nightlife in Phuket than Chiang Mai.

Yup your hotel is a stunner
Probably one of the most beautiful as well in my estimation.
I met some girls from your hotel that work in the "cultural department"....they were very cute, met them at Riverside.
I'm going back up to CM. probably Jan 22 for about three days. I have to sort out our kitchen and menu at the group I work for.
I love Riverside and goodview as well.
All the clubs you mentioned are great, I actually like that scene a bit better than Patong.
Have been been to the coke bar. Down the street from riverside with nothing but coke decorations have a cheap drink then leave.
Maybe we can have a 50 baht margarita at Chaing mai saloon but don't eat there they have a huge rat problem (they will drink from your beer when your not looking)
Have fun!

I reckon you can't go past Bubble for a good bar in Chiang Mai. Great house DJ's, a good mix of Thais and falang and usually a few freelancers sniffing about the place. Both girls I pulled there even had their moto's so it was a quick trip back to the hotel.

Well i'm back... Still not easy finding time to come online and post but seeing as the hotel occupancy is in the 20's to 35's % wise i have a bit more time on my hands.
Now where did i leave off... Oh yes V-club... Found myself going there a LOT at one stage, not for the chicks believe it or not, just seems to be one of the few places i've found to be open till about 5.30am and sometimes till 6am. And seeing as i don't get off work till about 12am its the after hours places that i seem to go to most often. There are two places in an area seemed to be known as Chiang Mai land, or at least thats what the hotel staff call it.
Two places to check out there, "Bossy" and "Jam".
Bossy has loud music with DJ and a live band... I seemed to notice almost every place i've been to in CM has a live band... Anyway Bossy is again a local hang out joint, I've only ever once seen a Farang in there. But its interesting none the less. Bossy is also open till late but i can't confirm the time as i've never stayed there until closing but i have been there till about 4am once and the party was still going so def worth taking a look at if you are in town. Then "Jam" is literally just across the road and Jam is a good place to sit and relax eat or dance... Anything really but i go there for the food once i've usually had too much to drink in Bossy.
ATM WALKING - I actually think there is more local night life in Chaing Mai then in Phuket... BUt then again i didn't spend much time in Phuket town to i'm not really one to talk. However i would imagine since CM is much bigger the local nightlife should in theory be bigger too no??
Premier - I've been to Bubble twice and i have to say have never seen a nice looking free lancer in there but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder or the beer holder/johnnie walker. Either way IMHO the music in bubble is too LOUD and really i can only stand the place for about 30mins tops although i do enjoy the music its a bit too much "duf duf" for me. I suggest you try V-Club next time, similar electronic music and better girls IMO
I feel like i'm missing a place... Oh yes, MO'C MO'L also another one of these eat, drink, dance and see a live band type place. Nice decor or nicer than most and the food is pretty good as well. The band plays mostly thai songs so don't expect to here songs like "dancing queen" or ....Oh what is that song that they play all the time in riverside.... The title escapes me at the moment but it will come back sooner or later... Oh well, just don't expect to here too many english songs. BUt its a nice bar and def worth checking out. Its owned by the same group of guys that own Monkey club FYI.
For all of you guys just wanting the P4P go to "Sakura" its a karaoke place by the Chedi, its 3000 baht to buy them out but you can sometimes find some real stunners in there and def worth the 3000...
Hope you guys find this useful in some way shape or form. Otherwise no worries its just me blabbering on anyway.
With blabber to come...

I've been to Bossey so I maybe been that Farang you saw
I love Chiang Mai. But it does seem quieter. Phuket is like one big bar. Of course if you include all the tourists, phuket may have more people than Chiang Mai so that makes sense. but CM is the most real with real local people. Going out there is great fun. Perfect balance of small town / big city.
Agree with your take on Bubble.
Any soapy recommendations?
