Loy Krathong hotel?
I'm planning on coming up to Chiang Mai for Loy Krathong this year. Since I have made plans this far in advance, is it a good idea to get a hotel now? I read in a guidebook that the hotels get slammed around that time. I can spend up to THB3000/night. Any advice is appreciated!

I have just returned from Chiang Mai and stayed in a private 'down stairs' room here Imm Hotel and found the place to be ideal for my needs. Nice big pool and a great room for the rate, about 5 minutes from the night bazaar, 'riverside' in a tuk tuk.

Beautiful boutique hotel - great ambiance and in your budget - check the location map out as its close to everything shopping and nightlife wise.
Have a good trip to CM.
