    Pai

My second trip to Pai and i`ve come away even more impressed than the first.

    Was there last friday night.
I had a little bit of trouble getting a room.
The area on the opposite side of the river from the main highway, that looks back at the river the town and the mountains behind it,was fairly solidly booked, but managed to get a tidy bungalow for 800 baht for the night with a good view.
The whole CBD was closed for a walking street with all the usual market offerings plus some of the more local items as well.
They had buskers artists, face painting and many little bars and restaurants, some with live music, that you could sit at and watch the passing parade of farang and Thais.
All with a leisurely, laid back feel to it.

I didn`t get a room here PAIRADISE Guesthouse as it was full, but the pool setup (more like a large natural pond than a pool) and bungalows looked really nice. But at 1200/night a little over priced,IMO.

I`ll be spending more time in Pai in the future, for sure.

I`m sure you`d much rather be relaxing in your newly adopted Oz haven, sitting on the shores of the Yarra drinking rosso with Mav.
Or cheering for your fav AFL team at the MCG with all your new Aussie mates.

    You`ve earnt it buddy..

Lots of the CM expats seem to talk pretty badly about the usual Pai tourist / resident.. Usual druggie backpacker labels..

My ears pricked up when one dissed them saying they took those funny fungi up there.. tut tut.. terrible.. Where exactly was that ??

April would be an excellent time to go up there.
A couple of nights would be fine.

Plenty of van type mini buses go up there or you could hire a car and drive like i did.I got a late model 2.4L Camry for 1300/day,great little car. It`s not hard to find if you can use a road map.

Some of the waterfalls along the way are worth checking out.

    Well spotted JL.

I like the attention to detail on it.

There was a group of about 8 all on CX 500`s in various customised states.

I`ve seen a group of Thai`s on Phuket riding old SR 500`s.

    Classy old thumpers those ones.

Theres loads of SR400's up there.. the 500s quite a bit rarer.

Seens some real nice cafe styled ones.. Including one with a polished tank that looked the pods.. Some silly chopper modded ones too..

Funny enough I saw a few of them around CM in April last year, including one done as a cafe racer parked outside a bar a couple down from Jaffamans place... Really cool bikes and great for customizing projects..
