Hi y'all. I'll be heading to Thailand next month. This will be my first time going to Chiang Mai, and the first time I've been to Thailand without my Thai girlfriend.

One of the things I like to do in Thailand is rent a motorcycle and drive around. I generally don't like doing the organized tours, instead I like to get a map, and go at my own pace where I want to go. In the past this was easy since I had a nice English speaking Thai girl on the back of the bike who could read the signs, talk to the locals when we got lost, explain things to me, etc.

This time I'm all by myself. I was thinking of picking up a BG (I have no real experience with them) for my time in Chiang Mai to act the part of translator and to keep me company. I'm sure I can hire a private driver or some such, but figure if I'm going to be paying out money for someone, it might as well be someone who I can sleep with.

So I want your guys feedback on two things:

1. Is this a good idea?
2. Will I be able to find a BG to do this in Chaing Mai and what will it cost me?

I'll be spending a few days in Bangkok first, but I don't think I'll be able to find a BG there as I'll be hanging out with some nice upper-middle class Thai women who will have a fit if I so much as mention any of the bar areas. I've already asked them, but it wouldn't be "appropriate" for them or one of their friends to fly to Chiang Mai with a farang.

Besides, I figure if the girl lives in Chiang Mai, if I do deside to do an organized tour one day (for something that I wouldn't be able to do on my own), I can leave her behind without causing any trouble.

Anyway, I appreciate your feedback and would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Of course its a good idea..

Are you sure you want a BM (Board member) to assist.. Much better idea to find a Thai girl no ??

The bar scene in chiang Mai is smaller and less developed that Patong / BKK.. Dont know the place but its usually not hard to pick a girl up anywhere in Thailand.. Tho getting a cute English speaking one that can or will be seen on the streets with you can get a bit harder in the rural areas..

there is a small bar area down by the night market(centre old town) you should just head for the sound of HELLO! WELCOME! and you should have no problem getting a companion for a few days

Thanks Steve. Any tips on what I am looking at cost wise or the proper way to suggest it to the girls?

I have no real experience with the bar scene except wandering around Bangala at night taking in the sites and being accosted by the LB's (Had my Thai girlfriend with me. She doesn't look Thai, everyone thought she was a farang, scared the piss out the LBs when she started yelling in Thai.) wanting me to take a photo with them and by BGs trying to get me into their bar.

just pick your bar ,pick your girl ,ask if she want to go on a trip for a couple a days,pay barfine approx 200bht a day,have a good tome and at the end give her 1000bht for each day,everybodies happy

yes no problem BG are in chiang mai(some nice lookers), some quality girls at the climbing wall bars near night markets.
cost "up to you"

As a future reference for anyone else there are heaps of bars within a 1km radius of the Night bizarre markets. Enjoy!

This is the hang out of the local branch of the Hash House Harriers and you will get plenty of local advice there.It is located near the Tapae Gate and Montri Hotel.(One block up the street.) Also there is the Top North Hotel and a group of bars.

Opposite the H3 Pub is Soi Loco (my name) and it has a strip of bars too.

There is a bar called the foxy lady. if you find yourself looking at a big climbing wall there are bars there. the foxy lady is the other side of that big wall. Turn right at the wall then bear left. you will come to a small street walk left and the ago go bar is on the right about 100 yards. I took three from here and they were all nice. 1000 kept them happy with a nice meal before bed time !

there is also a soapy if you have never tried one. ask a tuk tuk for short time

When I was in Chainge mai, i walked out of my hotel and told the tuk tuk driver that I wanted to go somewhere to dance. He took me to a bar call porn ping. Met up with some guys from holand (seems like lots of dutch guys in thailand) and the girls found us. After partying for a few hours, climbed on a scotter with two thai ladies and went to a bar close to the old wall. cant remember to name but by then it didnt matter.

point is that I met this great looker and then rented a scooter and toured around for a couple of day. I paid her 5000b for the time spent, but Iam a little silly when it comes to money. She was great company and all right at night.

Best places for picking up chicks in CM is the Peak by the climbing wall and Loh kroi road where there are 10 bars or so also theres No1 bar with a few cuties in there.

There are 2 main gogo bars one is foxy (some hot chicks in there) and then the spotlight bar by the moat.

If you have not pulled by 1am then head over to Bubble disco which is under porn ping hotel also another club there called hotshot but i find it not good for pulling chicks its too dark. after bubble head to Spicy which the whole of Chiang mai heads after 2am byt 2.45 its choca blok full with lots of independants if you aint pulled by then give up and head on home and bust one off yourself cause you must be a real fat ugly MF

Average is 400 bar fine (500 at foxy) and then you can get away with 1000 baht but if shes real hot your looking more at 2000

Also new website that is listing all bar girls in all areas of thailand with there tel numbers and email and what bar they work at so you can know before you go where the hottest chicks work. I thought it was a good idea as it saves time for us when we visit other parts of thailand and find a citie before we go.

As a butterfly i did sign up as an affilate and i get paid to list any nice girls I find but only if a guy pays membership via one of the girls I signed up I dont get anything for promoting the site or sending traffic to the site I only get 250 baht if my girls are smoking hot and people sign up under my girls.

This is the best area (top of Loi Kroh) Foxies is a rip off compared to other places ( beer Lao at B125 a bottle) and not particularly friendly (just my opinion before anyone has a go at me). I noticed most people only had one drink in there and then left, suitably unimpressed. There's a couple of girls in there who used to work in Phuket who are quite friendly tho if they recognise you. I find the peeps in the few bars at the top end of the road far more fun.
