Upgrading CSLOX connection

Need to upgrade my current CSLOX connection as it is only 256k and will be doing some important 'work' soon and need a decent throughput.

I'm currently paying 1500 Bt for a 256K connection which looks alot. I inherited the connection from the house I am renting, so am not experienced in setting up ADSL over here.

When I spoke to them yesterday all they did was send me a form to fill out to request an upgrade.

Anyone deal with CSLOX upgrades before and have any advice? I'd also like to hear what BM's are currently paying for their ADSL. Don't really want to change providers and have any downtime, and have heard that CSLOX are one of the better providers, so am happy to stay with them.

I'm also a bit confused with the setup. My phone bill comes from TOT, but my ADSL service is listed on my CSLOX bill as "DSL-Advance-UPC-TTT-256" Doesn't that mean I would be going through TTT and not TOT? Or I am way off the mark here?

Any help would be appreciated.

The whole market is confused and inconsistant..

Some setups are part billed with the phone and part billed with the ISP.. Some are all on phone bill..

Mine is 1000 baht for goldcyber 1024/256 but its not that reliable.. I was told if I want to cancell the ISP and take a new provider I still have to pay 1000 baht for the line anyway !!! Makes sense TiT !!

I am hearing the pacific internet is good as it goes out via Singapore and not through the CAT links.. More bandwidth so if they say you get 512 you get close to it..

I'll have a look at Pacific and see what they offer. I am very wary of changing suppliers as I have been very happy with the uptime on cslox, and will kick myself if it is not as consistent.

Whilst speed is important, reliability is paramount with what I will be doing, a true 512 connection would be fine.

I think i'll stay put and try an upgrade, although I'm already paying the same as the upgraded service! Should be fun explaining that one.

Thx

I'm in Patong (Nanai), can you suggest a decent speed test for where we are?

OK, I just tested the connection speed using the tttbroadband speed test and got between 180-190kbps, which I guess is not too shabby.

I regularly get downloads consistently running at 22-24KB/s, which I would like to improve, so am hoping a 512 or higher will give me that while keeping the reliability of connection that I already have.
