3D software

I realise there wont be much input from this on this board, but I'm after recommendations on either Maya or Lightwave as in which way would you go. Or perhaps you would recommend another package.

I'm currently using truespace which gives good results, but in the end maybe alittle light on to move into the semi professional realm.

Any discussion or input would be greatly appreciated. Also any pointers to some forums would be great as well.

I asked a friend who is in to the 3d scene. Here is what he said...

I asked summat similar a while ago ...the answer I got was basically... "most 3d packages do the same stuff.. it totally depends on what you are comfortable with and used too"

3ds max is prefered for game development
maya for film type stuff and animation ..
and I have heard the lightwave is generally quite good for modelling individual objects and the like.
just download the 30 -day free trials and see which he prefers working with

SO thats what he told me, if you want more stuff, I can easily ask some more of my computer mates who use 3D software. You can always drop me a PM.

Thanks for that summary, thats pretty much exactly what I've been looking for, and confirms what I've discovered myself.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
I always wanted to learn 3d modelling myself, to create animated intros to movie clips and so on.
