Asus
Last year I actually went so far as to order an ASUS notebook, but the dealer was out of stock and I ended up getting a Fujitsu Lifebook instead. In any event, the ASUS brand is made in Taiwan and has a fairly good reputation. They also do contract manufacturing for other brands, such as Apple. I see that they sell them a lot in Asia, including Thailand, so you should be able to get service there if need be. I don't know anything aboiut the particular model you're looking at, but I would buy any extended warranty if it's available.

The spec on that machine looked ok but I really havent followed what money buys what specs these days..
Acer as a manufacturer has a solid rep and my acer laptop has been very good for many years.

I am sure there is a link to thier sales in OZ from thier website. I'm no technophile but it seems to have all the bells and whistles, built in webcam, good size memory thingie, two year global warranty and long battery life. It weighs next to nothing and comes with a soft sleeve and a hard case which is good for me with travelling a bit.
I think it now comes with a free external 200GB hard drive which I missed out on!
Worth a look IMHO
