Nifty line speed meter
tcpIQ
Found this in the database secton of bkk post the other day. Handy little tool that you can configure to run line speed tests as often as you want. It then keeps your results online so that they can be compared across country and isp. Handy to be able to see what your line is doing on an hourly basis.
My results are here (pretty poor though)
Would be good if others, especially in Thailand could have this running daily so we can build up some sort of picture of internet access speeds, latency, outages etc across Thailand.

My upload speed is always good, when I test manually using thaivisa (another pretty cool little speed test) it is always coming out at 600k+
I'm not even sure what my exact speed is but my adsl readings on the router come out rated as 2048/1024, so 2MB/1MB. I can't find the details online for the package (CAT/HiNet)

I also tested ThaiVisa's test...
Download Speed: 830 kbps (103.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 424 kbps (53 KB/sec transfer rate)
Which seems wrong as I only have 512/256 here.

mine is 947.1 down and 517.0 up
my brother always asks me the same thing:, whats your connection speed peter??
My answer is always : isn't that depending what website your on ?
and how much people are on that website.
and where you live , a big apartment block , or in the countryside
So my question to you guys is: whats the use of such programs like
line speed meter ??

I agree, would be more interesting (for me) to have the speed test on Phuket-Info.com server to measure the current speed to/from my own server.
Lot of Swedish ISPs have similar test on their own networks so their customers can verify the speed they get. This is practically the fastest maximum speed as it is on ISPs network.

Ok, as I checked my bills today and it was not a free upgrade but still cheaper than going for 1mbit directly, its 20% discount. And talking to Ead they actually called her a while back and she agreed to the upgrade, lol.
I dont mind anyway.
