My GF is in Sweden now and she wants me to teach her about computers.
I have one old pc, P3 500 Mhz that I was thinking i could install windows in Thai. Is that possible when i only got swedish keybords? Can i find thai windows on internet?
On my new pc and laptop i have windows xp swedish.

I did this when the wife first came over, it was Windows ME back then and it worked very well.

The keyboard is a bit tricky because it uses Thai and Roman characters, but if it's on a dedicated PC it won't cause you any probs.

I bought a genuine copy of Windows, which was 3000baht, and a keyboard which was about 600baht. You need to get these in Bangkok I think.

She never turned the computer on once!

This document may help you in adding Thai language capabilities to you PC: http://www.hawaii.edu/thai/thaifonts/HowToSetThai.pdf.

You should definitely invest in a Thai keyboard as using a standard roman style will be nearly impossible.

Keep in mind that changing the windows setting, may not have any effect on the applications, unless they have Thai language capabilities and use the Windows regional settings.

Some software programs that are dependant on date format may not work with a PC setup to use the Thai calendar. The company I work for sell programs with such conflicts and when we sell in Thailand our customers dedicate a computer to those applications. For you standard programs, such as Internet browsing, word processing, etc., it makes no difference.

I am using Thai/English/Swedish on most of my computers without any problem, with Thai keyboard thought. But Swedish chars is programmed into my brain after many years of use so it doesnt matter what keyboard I use.

The problem with a non-Thai windows and ms word is that Thai documents will not be formatted correctly.

Just a quick question: Doesn't the Swedish keyboards have more keys than do the "standard" ones? (Like the Norwegian keyboards).

I change keyboards at the same rate I change my t-shirts (well, ok I change keyboards more frequently...) but I've had no luck finding a keyboard with enough keys on it. Anyone knows if I can get these in places like Panthip?
