Console gaming for 2007
has everyone still got the consoles from last year from the last thread?
got a Wii to go along side my 360, got a few games for it. Very fun gaming with the new controller (did take a bit of getting use to) Resident Evil 4 works very well with the wii-remote My 360 gets the most play time, so many good games out and out this year. Mass effect is just I'm looking forward to playing

I have been planning to mod my wii so I can buy a lot of cheap games, still have to visit Jaques.
Original games here is ~3000 baht and too expensive, compared to PC games released in Thailand cost 500-700 baht. Will play more soon...

  Still only got ps2. Dont bother with it anymore...Anyone recommend some decent pc games..I havent a clue

Currently stuck into command and conquer 3.. Can just eat time !! Very deep RTS.
Really gotta pick up forza and dirt.. Dirt looks great.

I picked up Dirt the other day. Haven't tried it yet. The star Trek game sucks.

Want to get a ps3 but the high price and no real good games, make it an easy decision
There is some good games around 2008 but not for £425+ (for the console) (can't be bothered to import one). The other thing that puts me off the ps3 is the amount of biased dimwits that defend the ps3 to death and try to turn other gamers to their console.

I recently bought all the guild wars games as they're going for £10 now, a great game but pretty challenging in parts.
Anyone hear of Peggle? It's one of those indie arcade games but great fun and really addictive. Console seems a bit thin on quality right now, I think it should pick up in october/november time though with a wave of titles like GTA IV, assassin's creed, kane & lynch, stranglehold, etc targetted for around that date.

Assassins Creed.. Thats looks insane !! You seen the new preview and vid on IGN ?? Really free roaming enviro, superb look, thats one I am itching for.
Add in Halo 3, VF5, to your ones above.. xbox has some really top titles.

Picked up dirt forze and overlord yesterday..
Dirt looks great (tho less so ingame than in replay) but I thought it was more arcadey than it is, actually quite tough, may need to get a wheel for some more prescise control. Of course we also have SEGA rally coming soon which should be pure arcade style fun. Forza should get a proper work out soon Overlord is GREAT fun.. Love the concept of sending your minions out and just trashing the joint everywhere you go, lots of cool subtle funny stuff as the minions get drunk, put on improvised armor etc.. Hope it has some more depth tho as I was only an hour or two play and started to need a bit more. C&C now has me cursing at it !!

Ohh and for Nicke.. Wii mod chips are 2500 baht fitted, 2 - 3 days wait, and copy games 100 baht.

Where can I buy the games? The guy I intended to buy from had a stall in Jungceylon but seems to be gone now... (He asked for 300 baht/game)

Just called..
Wii package.. 2 controllers.. wii sports.. Plus 5 copy games.. 18k.. That was his first price, tho I think he knows me well enough that he might have not messed around with bartering prices ?? I thought the Wii was so much cheaper than 360 ??

just to let you know, the latest Wii firmware update might "brick" your console (kill it) if its modded. It will give a warning (see attached pic)
the update enables new features

been playing the demos of Bioshock and John woo's strangehold,
from the demos both are going to be excellent games. strangehold is very much like max payne (MP was partly inspired by the film Hard boiled) Bioshock is fantastic, graphics better than anything on the market, really good AI, creepy atmosphere and a unique setting There are just demos but the full games are not out yet

In reviews Bioshock has been scoring as the best game since Half Life 2...I really hope they get the sales they deserve for this one - Irrational Games have a habit of making awesome games that seem to go unnoticed by the mainstream. I'll skip the demo and wait a few weeks and get the full game, comes out 24th August I believe. It might have to wait on the shelf a while though what with the guild wars and medieval expansions coming out that week. I think the first half of 2007 has been pretty weak really but the next 6 months looks set to be the best ever for gaming. I do wonder if the PS3 isn't getting left behind - they aren't getting the titles and many devs are saying it's crap to program on. With PC games like Bioshock making it to xbox it shows the 36 |
