Downloading Videos

I thought I would share a problem I had with my PC and the outcome.

Recently ,on Live Chat, I asked Nicke about a problem I was having downloading videos from the web. I couldnt remember making any changes,and a month previously,all had been well.

After viewing the video(s), I used to click on the "save target as" but strangely this was now "greyed out" and as you know, going to file and "save as" only saves the web page not the video.

It was getting annoying and Nicke suggested clearing the cache, which I do almost every night, so that was not the solution.

This evening I tried to log onto a "dubious" site and the prolem was solved.
The content advisor blocked me from getting access to the site, and this was also stopping me downloading any videos.

I then remembered setting the content advisor to stop my 14yr old daughter looking at what I thought was an unsuitable site. Sometimes I amaze myself with my own stupidity

How long does it take to download these mucky videos? How depraved are they?

All depends where you are what type of connection you have. I have in the last 5 minutes taken the phone line out of my ADSL modem and am now using good old dialup, as it quicker. I know I have said it before, but I bloody well miss my cable internet from Sydney.

Hi Steve

I know what you mean about broadband. I can't imagine being without it. I use cable broadband too and apart from the odd reboot of the settop box its pretty reliable.

Do you find using dial-up that your connection keeps being dropped?
Thats the main reason I switched to broadband,apart from freeing up the telephone line.

I suppose one day there will be a good reliable ADSL or cable in LOS

Nope surprisingly the dialup never drops out, but the ADSL at night is shocking. I cant believe that I'm paying B1K a month for this bullshit. At the moment it is totally unusable, I cant even get a page to load, let alone downloading a video.
