A couple of months ago I signed up for TOT ADSL, 1024/256 for 100 baht a month. After being told it would be here in 10 days, it was eventually installed after a month. The first couple of days it was very good, I managed a 12MB download in under 5 minutes. After that the service became much slower, when it was actually available. I would guess that the server has been down for at least 40% of the time in the past month. The bill hasn't arrived yet but that doesn't surprise me; I have two phone lines here and I usually only receive one of the bills, often after the date that payment is due, necessitating a trip to the ofice rather than the 7-Eleven.

Is it just me, or perhaps just in Karon that we have the problem or is it general?

I need the internet so may be looking for an alternatiove if this unacceptable service continues. Any suggestions welcome.

NB I am currently using e-go dial-up access as we have had no TOT ADSL since Friday.

Had the same package in Patong, total crap. Used KSC dialup most of time as was faster and more stable. Theres a few threads on here already about internet on the island.

I use TT&T and Jasmine Internet 512Kb and pay 2600 baht/month and it has been working very good last few months.

TOT goldcyber.. Went through a rough patch where they were really short on bandwidth.. Then they sorted it and when the line is not to busy I have been getting 800 kbs for 1000 baht package.. Problem is when it is busy it drops to 200 or so..

I just got a letter from them stating as a new year gift I have been upgraded to the 2700 baht goldbiz package for free.. Should be lower contention ratio but same speeds.. So I should get the 800+ more consistantly..

Anyone else get this letter or is it the squeeky wheel getting the grease (I call the engineers cell a lot if the line goes down etc)..
