Unwelcome house guest !!!!
OK well my house mate left a big cardboard box by the entrace to our place.. Box a TV came in.. Was too big for the house girl to take down to the garbage so its sat by the entrance steps until we just went to move it..
Coming out of the box was this angry little bugger !!!
Might look small but I assure you that when it was reared up with its hood spread open hissing like an overloaded kettle it was mighty big enough.. I am guessing a real 4+ foot and wasnt to slow either.. As much as I dont like killing stuff for killing stuffs sake this one got battered with a stick !!!
Hes now on his way to someones kitchen..

Fcuk, I hate snakes. I had a big green one outside my bungalow a coupple of weeks ago. It was also moving pretty fast and climbed up in a tree. But Ive heard that the green snakes in Thailand are not as poisened as the black ones.

Critters
Good photos.
It may not have been a cobra but a red keelback which as a defensive measure rears up and hoods to pretend it is dangerous. They are mildly venomous but if in doubt give it a clout.Even a baby cobra is born with the same strength venom as an adult and one bite can kill.
Over the years I have had several small snakes which have moved in and had to be evicted.Surprise surprise my farmgirl TG ran like a scalded cat! Where is the manual for removing a snake from under your fridge? These were all green house snakes and are harmless so I was able to handle them myself.Another visit was a large Tooktah lizard with a bad attitude but my posse of cats hunted it down.Where possible I release them back into the wild.

Well and truely into the snake season here in Victoria. I like to camp up into the Dargo highplains, plenty of snakes in that area especially the dreaded browns. These are not only one of the deadliest in the world but the buggers are also very aggressive and don't mind to chase you down.

only at the temple
when i first walked around the village i asked my gf about snakes, she said that very few snakes because the villagers kill them on sight.
being an aussie, i have great respect countered with fear of the animals.
i never saw a snake at the village, after much wandering and fishing at the local dams.
1 day we went to the temple only 1 kilometre from the house. 1 of the first things i saw was small snake who had been disturbed by the mass of villagers attending the temple on that day.
i asked my gf why the snake at the temple, was not even basically acknowledged by the people.
with shock and horror she looked at me, and said can not hurt animal at temple, temple is for all, and no harm can happen to anything.

Although we have plenty of snakes around here in Aust we have seen plenty in Thailand over the years. Had one one the balcony of the hotel room that eventually went back into the garden. When we told the gardener that usually got the flowers from the garden for the table settings he wasnt to keen to go back in the garden.
Had another one rear up at us while riding down the hill near Simon's Cabaret which was interesting and another one at promthep cape lookout. When I saw the one at promthep in front of us I pointed it out to the japanese tourists that were walking straight towards and they just thought I was waving to them when they finally realised what I was telling them they were flying all over the bloody place it was pretty funny.
Nearly all were green snakes so probably ok but still puts the frighteners up you when you go into contact with them when you aren’t expecting to.

Yeah your both right I think the bloody redbacks have morphed or something cause we have been getting them with bodies the size of a ten cent piece around here and they are everywhere. Working in the garden you are bound to encounter a few, and you nearly have to wrestle with the buggers these days.

i thought the only thing you would want to wrestle to the ground is a nubile bg mate.
hang those gardening boots upside down or redback revenge maybe upon you.
my gf still looks at me when i put my shoes upside down outside her house, she will understand why after coming to oz.
steve, too right about those funnel webs when they get aggresive and they stand up, more scarey than a snake i think.

i remember doing an army exercise with some usa boys, near the blue mountains.
and 1 of the usa boys was in front of the section when he said "hey guys look at this spider dance", f*uk me i said dont touch it.
on our return i got hold of the bush survival guide book and said here you go fellas read this.
they were engrossed in this book for hours, mainly with horrified looks on their faces.
