Talking Rental housing in Patong

Finding a reasonable priced rental house in Patong is like looking for hen's teeth!::

I was due to move to a new place in Nanai 2 but my girl was told last Tuesday that the deal was off as they have sold it.This left me with only two weeks to find a place.

I first checked out behind the fire station but found no empty places. On the second day I trudged the entire length of Nanai Road going up every side Soi and found zero.

I went on around towards the temple and found recently posted sign advertising a house.I lucked in - this place had only been vacated over the weekend and they wanted a long term tennant. It is a big three bedroomed place with a fenced in yard which is ideal for me as I have a pack of dogs. The price was OK and the landlady speaks great English and was easy to deal with.I signed the contract as soon as possible and am moving in now.

I would never have spotted the sign if I had been in a car or driving a motorbike so the moral of the tale is use "Shank's Pony" (walking) when scouting for a place.

May i ask what a reasonable price for rental of a house is? Would be realy nice, i hate how you cant bring friends to hotels unless they are guests. And also, house party's can be alot of fun as a starting point before a long night out.

Smile House prices

The place I was in for 7 years (2 bedroom large bungalow) was 12,000 Baht per month. The one on Nanai that I almost got was going at 13,000 Baht per month (another two bedroom bungalow) The three bedroom two storey detached house that I have just taken is 20000 Baht per month.

I looked at another one bedroom bungalow and they wanted 15,000 Baht per month. This was behind Montey's Bar and was brand new and fully furnished including TV and air con.

If you want to live away from Patong beach then there are places in Kathu going from 6000 to 10,000 for a decent sized bungalow .

Thats actually cheaper then staying at most guesthouses. And you get a house for yourself, have to consider that for my next trip.

Hmm yea, im not sure how long im staying next time yet, it all depends on how much money i have put aside in April, or if i get that Internship thing, and if i get that internship thing then im most likely gonna end up in a small room with a bed, a fan in the roof and cold water shower.

The prices quoted are obvously for ongoing tennancy type deals and I agree the prices of housing round town are spiralling up fast.. We just took a house over for a mate that another mate moved out of. 2 beds at 10k thats cheap but it needs some work in paint and sorting it out..

To find nice accomodation to just move in with a suitcase and live for a few months is getting harder and harder (if more than a simple room is required)... Often of you want it nice you have to budget on spending a little to redecorate or even fit an AC or similar (they like farangs who spend some on a house they then move out of).. Dogs or a garden makes it all the harder..

Some of the for sale and sold prices I have seen over this high season for very normal houses round town has shocked me !!
