Police looking for farangs working w/o wp

Look like tourist police try to find farangs working without work permit. Yesterday one of my friends who run a bar in Soi Eric were accused of working in his bar by tourist police, while he infact didnt do anything. He like most barowners do NOT work in the bar.

Althought, I have seen farangs change cd or serving drinks in rare cases, I suggest those of you who do, don't do anything as it may be used against you.

It has always amazed me how guys think that it cant happen to them. Its not only the Thai police you have to worry about seeing you, but also the farang they pay to snoop. They would love nothing better than to catch some one working illegally.

I mentioned that because I heard of stories 7-8 years ago about farangs being kicked out of Thailand for doing that.

Heard of owners simply shaking the hands of customers having problems, advice during the last crackdown was to always have your own bin in front of you (in your own bar) and always sit on the outside of the bar space not inside the bar space..

The definition of work here technically includes driving your own car, painting your own house, walking your own dog..

I meant a job as bar staff in the bar where the owner cant even pass a beer.. This is what I have been trying to tell all along.. These guys (presumably) have a B visa (through owning the company of the bar) but cannot get a work permit for that activity..

Last year a guy was arrested in BKK for getting up from the audience during a Jam session and playing with the band..

And its that kind of stuff..ie taking things too far that keeps the pace of things at a snails crawl...things need to change..but then that too brings its own problems...I think a happy medium would bring about a more attractive reason for doing business in los....but then TIT.

watchout old girl

in august my dads farang gf, got up and sang a few songs with the band (trio) at the mexican resturant near patpong.

i can just imagine the MIB arresting 67 year old jazz/blues singing farang woman in patpong

the ladies at her church group would have got a laugh out of that one.

Soi owner (different from Bar Owners) is not going 2 worry about snoopers so why would he.....would be impossible to police anyway

And how would they know who they are, and what interest would they in trying to stop them anyway. There is nothing in it for them.

The farang that wear white uniforms are the volunteer tourist police. Any snoops that are used, will look just like another customer. Generally the Thai owners dont really care if you can pay rent or not, as someone else will.

what stevem

thought "tourist police try to find farangs working without work permit" meant tourist police

my question was asking if farang tourist police volunteers were the "spies" or thai tour
