Exclamation House moving - Issan style

I thought after eight years together my GF would not be able to surprise me.Wrong! wrong! wrong!

I had spent the last few days on site supervising plumbers and builders and at last the big day was here.I phoned her and told her to bring my dogs to the new house.I would be waiting.
The next thing I hear is a racket at the front yard and there she is clutching one terrified dog.(My dogs have spent all their lives in a compound and never been in contact with traffic)
She had only grabbed one of the pups and hailed a motorbike taxi. She had the dog in between her and the driver. The dog pissed itself and soaked both of them.I suggested that it would be better and safer to use a pick up truck and get the job done in one lift.Message understood.
Thirty minutes later I hear her shouting from the bottom of the hill. There she is with a motorbike and sidecar with four of the dogs tied in it.(This is also their first exposure to Thai traffic)
I decided not to get mad but sent her back for the last three dogs. They had to endure the same journey but finally all eight dogs are safe and sound in their new home.
An hour later the same motorbike sidecar arrives with a full load of all my kitchen stuff.
Later a second load arrived complete with twin tub washing machine and micro wave.
The final straw was when he arrived and had my three seater settee on board.
I decided that we could dispense with his services as I did not want my two door bedroom cupboard risking the traffic. My TV is still safe in its old site too.

Yes life is still full of surprises. For those of you who know my missus you will understand.

crusty,
1st, i love the perspective you long time expats give the board!

ny dog, 13yr old german shephard got his 1st ride in sidecar a few months ago coming back from the "beauty for dog" or "bishop go take shower".
he did suprisingly well, but he is a veteran of the tuk-tuks!
