Thumbs up Annual Medical Checks

You are overweight. You eat too much. You drink too much alcohol.

Yes that probably sums up a lot of BMs.

But,on a serious note,I went today and did a yearly physical at the Bangkok Phuket Health Centre in the Hospital.Several of my customers had got it done and so I decided to try it.

The service was good and they ran a full spectrum of diaganostic tests,ie: bloods, urine, stool,ECG,blood pressure/pulse,and chest X ray.

After an hour everything was ready for the doctor to give me his interpretation of their findings. He didn't pull any punches and went through the results one by one telling me the whys and wherefores.

It was well worth doing (special offer only 2900 Baht) and I now have a local hospital with my medical records on computer.

Thumbs up Like a conveyor belt

This Health Centre is slick.

I no sooner had filled in the questionaire that I was in room one doing height, weight, eye test, pulse and blood sample in less than 5 minutes!

Room two was ECG then straight into room 3 for a chest X Ray.Another ten minutes.

Last bit was go to the toilet and do the piss and stool jars.

I was then given a food voucher to go have a feed while all results were prepared for the doctor.I waited for one hour in the cafe and was called up stairs for my doctor's interview.

I was in and out of the hospital building in two hours.

Fast indeed, will test them out, worst part if no food\drinks\tobacco 18 hours
prior blood testing as suggested when visiting the private clinics in singapore.

I also had my full medical check up today, but mine was slightly different, i arrived and found that nobody was expecting me although i had made the appointment 5 days before, had to sit for an hour before anyone came to see me.
Then the doctor could only speak portuguese, so another 20 minutes to find a translator, then it began with the usual weight/pulse/temp tests, (all were OK but i am slightly under height for my weight), then an ECG, the print out came and the doctors face had a strange look on it, obviously something wrong so he did another one, then a blood test for all sorts of stuff (probably cocaine and cannabis), then was handed 2 plastic tubs for the usual stuff, had a slash in the small one and was told to deliver the other one tomorrow.

Then the final part was a hearing test and an eye test, these were done in the back of an ambulance with cars passing all the time, and i had to press a button every time i heard a noise so i think he just told me i passed and showed me some sort of chart which could have been absolutly anything, then the eye test was those E things on a computer and i had to say which way they were pointing, sat about 3 yards away and surprisingly i passed that also .

The other thing i had to do was fill out the questionaire before i went in, one question:

Average alcohol consumption?

so i was thinking to myself, 3 weeks off, 21 days times lets say 14, thats 294, not much drink at work so i will forget about that, so that is 294 divided by 8 weeks equals 5.25 per day, final answer = 2

So all in all a good day, 4.5 hours in the clinic and no work managed

thank Fu*k the next one is 3 years away, assuming i have passed this one.

Simon

Seriously guys, you want to take some care of the body, as you dont want to be diagnosed with diabetes. I've had it now for about 4 years, and your medical checkups are every 3 months, and your life really does change.

Back here in Sydney I'm not drinking at all, no time. Come home from work and then sit in front of the PC at home writting code into the wee hours of the morning.

Was very high, but now I'm averaging mid 6's to mid 7's with the occassional 8 or 9, its OK. The only down side is I can no longer hold a pilots license, not that I've used for sometime, but I used to like to look at it.

Great advise Crustasian...but I would say everyone should go, not just the overweight etc.
Like most blokes, I try never to go to the doctor, but 2 years ago I went to get a small skin cancer checked, while I was there the doc toke my blood pressure, its was so high he made me wear a moniter that toke my blood pressure every 30 minates for 24 hours.
When I went back to get the results the doctor told me I had to start taking a blood pressure tablets, ..I said, Ill be right, I dont need that s#it, he said you could have a heart attack any minate looking at those results.
I said, Im 42, not over weight, Im fit and I dont smoke.
To that he said .......you know when you hear about some fit guy dyeing of a heart attack at 40 while going for a run......well your one of them.

If it wasnt for that skin cancer I could be dead, cos I would have never gone for a check up........and then there would hundreds of thai cuties with broken hearts,.....and empty pockets.

So Id say to eveyone get a check up now.

I used to suffer from hypertension as well, but the only good thing to come out of being a diabetic is that you are more aware of your body, and whats going on with it. After a while you can actually feel changes and you know instantly that something is not quite right.

I have a personal blood pressure monitor and use it daily, I'm happily on an average readings now of about 108/72 down from 150/110 or there abouts, and feeling heaps better for it.

my mom had heart problems her whole life. maybe 6-7 heart attacks, bypass surgery from say 48-73 when she died. ironically she died of renal failure which is a complication from diabetes which she was only diagnosed with much later in her life

Thumbs up No appointments needed

You can just drop by and tell the reception that you want a check up.

How did the diagnosis come about. Did you have a test for some reason? Are there any symptoms?

Started of getting bad leg cramps in the middle of the night. When one night got severe cramps in both legs at the same time, apart from being bloody painful, I then realised that something was amiss. So off to the doctor first thing in the morning.

The main things to watch out for are

1) constantly thirsty
2) sore eyes, blurred vision
3) odour in urine
4) cramping in lower legs
5) general pain and discomfort in legs
