Health Insurance Cost

Anyone know of which local health insurance company in Thailand provide value coverage? Would companies such as AIA and BUPA be good choice? What would the average monthly and upfront cost be for a young healthy individual?

Any information would be welcomed.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
I only know lot of expats use BUPA and I use the same, I pay 11,xxx baht for 1 year excluding out patient but including enought for SOS and Bangkok Phuket Hospital Service.

The price depends of your age, and they have maybe 5 different programs, I use one of the upper ones for coverage. I think the first 2 ones dont cover SOS or enought for international hospitals.

BUPA exclude USA these days, thought.

Thanks Nicke and Crustasian.

The health insurance is for a friend living in Phuket and so it only requires local and not international coverage.

I've checked out BUPA which has 4 different plans and it would seem that the first two do not have Emergency Assistance coverage, but the benefits only include Evacuation, Repatriation, and Repatriation of mortal remains. I've emailed BUPA but so far still have yet receive a reply. Do you know the difference between the varies plan?

Many thanks in advance.

BUPA plans are grouped under the Daily Room and Board (DR&B) benefit they provide. As you increase the DR&B benefit you automatically increase the other benefits. For example, "Saphire" pays 1,200 baht DR&B. The maximum coverage is 300,000 baht per condition. "Ruby" pays 2,000 baht DRB. The plan maximum is 400,000 baht per condition. Neither provides for Emergency Assistance in areas away from medical facilities. They both provide for ambulance assistance up to 1,000 baht.

"Emerald" pays 3,000 baht DR&B. The plan maximum is 500,000 baht per condition. "Diamond" pays 5,000 baht DR&B. The plan maximum is 600,000 baht per condition. Both plans allow for Emergency Assistance in rural areas and outside of Thailand. The only benefit that stays the same in all 4 plans is the 1,000 baht for an ambulance.
