Sport on Phuket Cable TV

Who else is pssed off with the sport we now receive on Phuket Cable TV (Karon Cable/P Southern).

When I subscribed we had three Supersport Channels from South Africa and one from UBC. The UBC coverage was changed to Real Madrid TV (very limited appeal, maybe the buyer likes David Beckham) when the contract between P Southern and UBC expired but recently the regular channels are a Chinese Channel showing old (sometimes very old) football matches from Europe, a Thai Channel called Sportsline, which mostly consists of rubbish (tonight they have truck-pulling), and DD Sports from India - great if you like Indian soccer and hockey, but at least they are sort of showing the Winter Olympics. Last week they were showing the Winter Olympics on 2 Supersport Channels but this week they are back to the channels mentioned above. It's become impossible to know what is going to be on TV; even Premiership football has been shown erratically with the programme controllers frequently forgetting to change the channels.

I rang them today to complain and I was told that I am not the first customer to do so, but that they try to show live sport where possible but other subscribers prefer not to have all their sport in the English language. I've been promised a response but will it be forthcoming?

I suppose my reason for having a rant on here is to see if other subscribers feel the same and if they do try to get them too to lobby the company to get decent sport back on TV as that's the reason I chose this company to start with.

Rant over.

UBC have no coverage at all for the winter olympics, so the investment in a Swedish channel in the bar has been a success. Lot of people (Swedish, Swiss) watched the hockey match tonight at MTB.

But well, I never liked the cable TV, UBC with some additional sat dish is the way to go (Swedish TV in my case).

If you want sport and regular sport at that you don't really have much option but to install UBC.

Cool You get what you pay for

Patong cable TV is the same.A few weekends ago we were all in the bar watching the Home Nations Rugby. At half time the programme was flicked over to some obscure soccer match.Cable in Patong are constantly changing their channel options and it is frustrating. But at 350 Baht per month why complain.

I got rid of UBC because of their poor support and arrogant staff in Phuket office.

I agree that you get what you pay for but with a guesthouse I can't afford UBC. You need a box in each room or you are limited to one channel, which is what I had last year before I changed.

Current sports on: Boxing repeat (Eurosport - that's different), old Real Madrid match, poker and live cricket (England v Presidents XI).

No sign of Winter Olympics or delayed coverage of last night's Champions League.

Maybe I'll have to show american Idol in the bar instead.
