But I assume thats 50 - 60k plus the bar tab.. If your out a lot your drink bill is nearly as bad as your pussy billl (lifes biggest costs in LOS)..

Agree I asked around a little and having a girl with me wouldn't be so cheap cost I would have to contribute with some family money and that would at least be 20K a months and of course some shopping so in total it would end at 30K probably or maybe more, I did a calculation and I think I would do alright with 4K baht a day (excluding room cost) and if I stick to 1K a night for "girl money" and if I cut down a bit on the give away drinks I think it'll be alright and I'll have money left for side trips and I'll get to see more of the island/thailand in general. Thou it's quite easy to burn money fast, last time a nice dinner in a nice resto (korean restaurant with live music on beach road) for two plus a bottle of wine went down for 3K baht 55555555 or a virgin redbull (no alcohol) took me 5 minutes and went for 900 baht, that's almost 200 baht a minute 55555 as I said, it's easy to spend alot.

20k a month family money? How many kids does she have? My guess would be 12?

I think he means 20k for the girl in total + some shopping..
A hair high to me but depends on the girl and how long you were staying together.. 15k is more about what I think is normal for someone to have spending money and not lose too much face..
I did a long post ages back on 'supporting your LT'...

Yup, the monthly fee must cover lost of income, financial help help for the family and maybe barfine cover for the time she'll be spending with me. And I figure an avarage 300 baht a day shopping (some days maybe nothing and some days maybe 1k) for personal things as period pads, perfume, hygine articles etc etc...

I figure there isnt much of a minimum wage in Thailand, but id think around 8k a month for working in a store, around 10-15 working in restaurant with tips included. I may be a bit off but either way, if you give her 30k a month that would be the same as some managing positions, hotels, restaurants etc.
So even if she has childrens, how does "normal" thai girls support their childrens? there isnt managing positions for everyone?! Perhaps if their lazy ass family's would atleast try to do something, instead of depending on their daughters/sisters body's things would be different.

If I base her monthly fee on the avarage thai salaries then yes I'll be paying too much and 15k a month in total would be fair. However I think it would be unwise since the income of a BG is most probably alot more than an avarge salary and even if some girls may agree to go for 10k a month, during the time i'm positive "emergencies" will come up and i'm very sure every girl will suggest more than once a little shopping tour. In any case, I doubt a guy with little experience (my case) can get away having a girl and her costing (in total) less than 20K per month. Coz one way or another she'll get more...

Alot always wants more. And now im mostly thinking about their family's. The more money you give her to send to her family, the more pressure she's gonna get from them aswell.

I'm sure many of the girls are greedy and/or their familys as well. But if I make sure she understand the monthly fee should cover emergencies also I'll let her deal with her family's requests. By paying a rather "handsome" amount I'll know immediately if I'm dealing with a greedy girl, if I pay a rather cheap fee, I can be certain I'll not only deal with a greedy girl but most likely with a girl which family is probably in need of money because of her lack of income...

Hey Jesper
I have been living long time in Patong over 2 times, check out my online diaries from these tour, they may give you some tips.
- In 2003 for one year, http://swampthing.dk/~tsj/traveldiary1/
- Winter 2005/2006 for 3 months, http://swampthing.dk/~tsj/traveldiary2/
On first tour I used about 2700 baht a day, on second tour about 2600 baht a day (not inkl hotel).
In 2003 I lived in Nanai Rd, Baan Tipagorn, for 6000 baht a month.
I should be possible to buy a used motorbike for max 16000 baht.
I'm a hashers, means I go out running with Phuket Hash House Harriers, it was the way I easily got friends in Patong.
