Gents,

I'm currently zooming along at 37.2Kbps on my dial-up so...

TOT CANNOT supply ADSL cos there's none available for Surin currently and they don't know when I can get one (apparently like the land lines you have to wait til someone gets disconnected !)

Can I use an alternative ISP over a TOT line ?
if so any recommendations ?

Will try ring a few ISPs today but appreciate comments from the usual techie locals and you know who you are don't you....

You can get IPStar satellite 2 way broadband.. Big ugly dish to put in and its a bit more expensive but it does work.

Does tend to drop out in weather like last nights though, whereas ADSL doesn't.

Certainly IPStar crapped out on me last night in Kata.

Lysander was gonna move to Surin, tried one of the guys IPStar connections so moved to Kamala instead !

Emailed KSC and CSLoxinfo, but somehow doubt I'll get an answer ....

I have a IPStar dish at my house no longer in use, if some body want it let me know.

Still will have the connection deposit and chare I think Nicke.. The daft thing is I told them to come and take that dish over and over.. Then they send me a stinky email about it months later.. Said 'fine come get it' and they never came !!!

IPStar isnt great but if your exchange hasnt gone digital its your only option short of really expensive leased lines..

Island technology can walk you through your options but charge LOTS for advanced connections.

I live in Kathu and am just finishing my new house at Loch Palms golf course but cannot get phone line. Would very much like to get your IPStar dish.

Being Thailand dont have any idea if they will waive the connection charge and equip deposit just cause you have the equip.. Used to be a rough 20k but I think its now a lot cheaper..
