Deli had both marmite and marmite barrel scrapings (vegamite) hidden away down the isle past the coffee beans a week or two back.
And thats proper UK glass jar marmite not that foul NZ stuff they sell in foodland.
Marmite on toast with a poached egg on top.. mmm...

Happy now...but at 365baht for a 250g jar I'll be savouring every bit. Was a lot cheaper when TOPS in central had it. Just need to find some Branston now.

They would be Aussies then Paul. No self respecting Brit would be seen dead eating that muck. Poor mans Marmite.

For you non-Brit farangs who may not know what Branston pickle is>>>
Branston Pickle is the UK's best-loved sweet pickle, with more than 28 million jars sold every year in the UK. Since its launch in 1922, Branston has been a firm family favourite. Today, Branston Pickle is still made to the same secret recipe and by the same traditional methods, blended to perfection for that unmistakable kick. The essence of Branston is its 'tang' which brings food to life through a unique combination of tanginess, sweetness, crunchiness and spiciness.
...and it's definitely available in Thailand as it's on the menu at the Black Swan in Bangkok>>>
Check out this excellent menu of good old brit grub!

I bought some in Tops last week and there was plenty on the shelf so doubt it has all gone. About middle aisle, right hand side walking away from the tills, top shelf.

The (new) tub of marmite was the only food item I rescued from the old villa.. Says something when a man will go into a collapsing building to get the marmite out !!

Twiglets taste like Marmite because they are smeared with the same yeast extract purchased from Unilever that goes into Marmite.
It is a natural by-product from brewer's yeast. The by-products of fermentation—yeast, barm, or leaven—had long since been known about, but it was not until Louis Pasteur's time that the secrets of living yeast were unlocked. A German chemist named Liebig discovered that the waste of yeast used in brewing beer could be self-digested and made into a concentrate, resulting in a protein-rich paste (some would say "sludge") with a more or less meaty flavor. (So Marmite is actually a Continental, not a British, invention! But the Brits were the first to make it commercially viable.)
Some of the yeast extract used in British Marmite comes from Bass's brewery in Burton-on-Trent, and the rest is from various other breweries in the area. (The breweries pay Marmite to remove the yeast from their factories.) The main Marmite factory is about two miles away from the Bass brewery. Burton-on-Trent has been the home of Marmite since the patent was first acquired in 1902.
This picture reminds meof me when I was younger
