Marmite
Enough of all this crap about pussy, etc. Time to ask a really IMPORTANT question:
Where can I buy Marmite? Not that Vegemite s**t that the Aussies (I love you nonetheless; just pity you for this! ) seem to put up with.
Come on, guys. Focus now.

Cant get it down here.. I have it brought out from the UK regularly..
I was told it was seen in deli (marmite barrel scrapings otherwise known as vegamite) and tops (was noting).. They do have it in BKK in foodland or carreforre as a buddy spotted and bought me a couple of odd tubs (not normal pakaging we are used to) that were real marmite..
serious subject.. need to get your own source..

All you can do is do what I sued to do, and that is to request someone coming over to Phuket soon, to bring some with them.

Concentrated Yeast Extract
marmite is for wimps
vegemite full of vitamins
The original recipe of Vegemite as a concentrated yeast extract has remained virtually unchanged for 80 years.
Yeast is known as a natural source of the vitamin B complex which includes thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, p-amino benzoic acid and several other compounds.
Yeast extract is four or five times more concentrated than yeast, making it one of the richest known sources of the vitamin B group. In addition to being rich in vitamin B, yeast extract also contains other essential proteins and minerals – all of which make Vegemite an excellent addition to the family diet.
A single serving of Vegemite (5g) on a slice of bread provides a large percentage of your daily vitamin B requirements:
% Proportion of Recommended
Daily Intake (RDI) Per 5g Per 100g
Thiamin
550 µg (50% RDI)
11.0 mg
Niacin
2500 µg (25% RDI)
50.0 mg
Riboflavin
430 µg (25% RDI)
8.6 mg
Folate 100 µg (50% RDI)** 2000 µg
**Recommended Dietary Intake for adults is 200µg or for women of
child bearing age, 400µg. It is important to maintain a varied diet.
Thiamine (B1) plays an essential part in converting carbohydrates to energy, as well as being important for growth and normal functioning of the nervous system and heart.
Riboflavin (B2) is also important for the release of energy from foods, in particular protein metabolism. Riboflavin is essential for the development and repair of tissues, including the skin and eyes as well as being necessary for growth.
Niacin (B3) is necessary for normal energy metabolism.
Folate is essential for the formation of red blood cells and the production of enzymes and other body proteins. A deficiency in folate results in a type of anaemia, which can cause weakness, tiredness, diarrhoea and weight loss and growth may be affected in babies and young children. Folate also plays a vital role in the growth of a developing embryo. Research has revealed that the risk of having a baby with a neural tube defect can be reduced up to 70% if women increase their intake of folate.
No fat and low in kilojoules
Vegemite is fat free and low in kilojoules, supplying only 38kj per teaspoon.

The fact that it is 'Fat Free' blows it for me! I'm not knocking the stuff. I just don't like the taste of it! I would rather have some sugar filled Jam on me toast in the morning!
As for all those vitamins etc again, I think I would just pop a pill for all those!

Looks like were in luck Aussie!!! Sounds like LivinlLos says vegemite is available in the deli in Patong...I reckon if I could buy it in a little corner store in Vientianne, Laos, I can get it in Thailand...haven't tried but my bet is you can. Surely over at Lotus!!!
Forget that Pommy Marmite...no where near the real MacCoy!!!

Vegemite is just weak browny reject marmite..
You get this all the time with our southern cousins who have tried Marmite made in oz (or NZ?) and think thats 'proper' marmite.. The oz one is made down under is weaker and sweeter and not got that powerful bite that UK Marmite has. Between oz marmite and vegamite I give you that its not up to much and I might even say vegamite is a better taste..
Dont even think about substituing bovril or promite...
Yes I do like the stuff

LOL, my mate was over recently and he asked if I wanted anything...well obviously I said Marmite, as many as you can fit in.
Well the plonker obviously forgot to get it at home and was in Oz for 3 weeks before hitting Thailand so bought me some "Marmite" from there (left in pic). It has to be the worst thing I have ever put on a slice of toast in my life!! worse even than the sandwich spread (another classic!) I bought from Family Mart, actually gagged trying to eat the stuff
Seen the vegemite iin the Deli, but can't face buying the stuff...not the same.

The Courage brewery in Bristol used to have big open topped bins for the waste yeast from the brewing process. These bins stood outside and the smokers at the brewery used to stand outside and throw their fag ends in these bins. Then they were shipped off to Marmite.
They are now bringing out Marmite in a squeezy jar, for wimps.
A roast beef and Marmite sandwich, yummy!

It all depends on what you have grown up with...
I am glad to hear that Marmite tastes better in the UK than the one obtainable in Australia...'cause it tastes like sh*t!!!!!
But sorry, Vegemite (correct spelling) is still better... LOL
