Aussies are so mad about their Vegemite that Kraft started making processed cheese slices impregnated with vegemite...I hate them... I prefer my vegemite and cheese separately together if you know what I mean...LOL

Cool I'll be able to have my daily hit of Jatz and Vege!!

I never miss these things too much when on holiday as the food is just so good...you're never hungry and there is magnificient food to be had everywhere...but I'm sure that after a while you start to hang for some of the old familiar things from home...

Concentrated Yeast Extract

JayBee...Vegemite is made from concentrated yeast extract and is a thick black salty spread...full of vitamin B (for black lol)

No truly...very high in Vitamin B...if you haven't been brought up on it...just trying it the first time...you'd probably throw up

On the first "toast soldiers" that we give our babies is spread Vegemite!!! that's how early you gotta start the stuff!!

But us Aussies are passionate about it...like the Pohms and their Marmite!

I always get a laugh out of the old Monty Python bit:

Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear.
Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right.
Man (to Waitress): Morning!
Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam;
egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage
and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam
bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked
beans spam spam spam...
Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a
Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with
truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in
it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!)
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon
spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it.
I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam
spam and spam!
Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and
the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful
spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam!
Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam
spam spam!

Specially Processed American Meat during the war or so I heard!

I missed my underpants this trip! I ended up with two pairs! The pair I had on and my 'Special Emergency Knickers" (SEK's) I always carry in my grab bag!

I managed to buy a pair of gusset hugging jockeys at the Ocean Plaza that accomodated the pair of socks I used for padding nicely. I like comfy trollies and these weren't comfy at all!

Always pack clean underwear, you never know when you will be hit by a bus!

If you've ever seen a bug hit a windscreen you know that yer undies aint gonna be in their most sartorially elegant state when you are hit by that bus anyway..............better to put on a pair with the skid marks already on 'em each day............it's much more fun!!!!!!............55555

You will also get a lot more respect from the girls when you tell them ........."sorry I wasn't going out looking for a pick up tonight...........It's just that you are so beautiful......when I saw you I just had to have you"!!!!!!!!!

I always thought it came from "SPiced hAM" but Wiki has others like "Shoulder of Pork and hAM" and "Spiced Pork and hAM"

I think a lot of slang anacronyms have been made up through the years tho.

Like these:

"SPoiled hAM"
"Synthetically Produced Artificial Meat"
"Steam Pressed Amalgamated Meat"
"Some Parts Are Meat"
"Specially Processed American Meat"
"Someone's Pigs Are Missing"
"Slime Posing As Meat"
"Spare Parts and Animal Mucus"
"meat left over from the SPanish AMerican war"
"Squirrels Possums And Mice"

The humorous radio show Ask Dr. Science claimed it is an acronym for "Scientifically Produced Animal Matter", a product of the food
