Expat Bank Accounts
Hi Guys,
When I start work in Laos (July) what would your experience recommend with regards to Bank Accounts. Do I just keep my Aust Bank Account 100% or do I join a “local one” (say HSBC) etc for a few $ to go into to use around the region. What is a good local bank? I have no worries about the Aust Tax (I don’t need to worry about “hiding” my expat money etc.) it’s just the charges etc I will get belted with if I withdraw $$$ O/S from my Aust Bank Acc. Any advice would be appreciated (please PM me if required) Cheers SD

Local banks OK
HSBC although big in Asia has a very small toehold in Thailand.
Siam Commercial or Bangkok Bank are handy and user friendly for having a local account and a local ATM card.
