apartment in Kata and phone line / ADSL

this is my third day in Phuket as I will stay here for one year. I have found a nice house in Kata but it has not the phone line. I need adsl, TOT is ok, the owner told me the he would ask today in Patong how to get it, price and time. He already said:"No problem, 7 days". I have read in many threads that to get a phone line it could take 1 year or more. Is it true?

I have found another apartment in Chalong with a phone line installed. How many days do you think I have to wait to get a TOT ADSL line (1000/month)?

I would really like to take the apartment in Kata but if it takes too long to get the phone line, I can't.

If they have spare line capacity its not hard (though they often try to gouge farangs when they need to provide the last 20m of cable from junction box to house etc)..

If there isnt any spare capacity at the exchange you need to wait until a line becomes 'free' or more are added, problem is once people know no new lnes are available they dont give thier back they attempt to sell them which in turn creates a line shortage as no new ones came back on the available list.

Basically its either really easy or nearly impossible !!
