Powered Paraglider Pilot seen around Phuket
Once again I saw the guy piloting this setup around..
Are you (the pilot) reading this ??
Does anyone know him personally ??
Would love to make contact, used to do slope soaring myself. Please if anyone knows him, let me know how to reach him or PM me for my mobile number to pass on.

I have seen him and read about him being seen at many times in the year.. I would think hes a resident (a fan pack and shield is a large item for tourist luggage)..
I saw him flying above the concrete elephants on the Cho Fa Rd a couple of days ago.. Stopped and hunted around for his car to leave a number but couldnt find anything.. He was doing low altitude curcuits and using low throttle for level flight.. By the look of his sail and the pilots size I think I would outweigh it but unsure how the power may or may not help that. I know my sail in Europe was fit for an 75 - 85kg person but I could use it on good wind days when 90 - 95kgs.. Obviously had to work harder for lift but usable.

Quick search on Yahoo brought up this page , it includes an e-mail address which may be useful.

LiL I watched and took some photos of this guy in May and June. He sets up on the car park opposite the Banzaan Market so if you see him flying around just go there to see him when he returns. I will check the photos to see if there was anything on the side of his pickup like a company name or number.
He is a bit of a nutter the first time I saw him he just turned up, pulled out the rig setup and started to run to take off. He obviously didn’t have enough power and decided to back off otherwise he would have ended up in the swampy marsh at the back of Burasai/Jungceylon. When he backed it off the parachute pulled back over his head and he ended up face down on the tarmac with the engine revving its tits off pushing his head harder into the ground. Two guys had to come over and pull the thing off him.
His next take off was a bit more successful but still looked as though he was going to hit the Jungceylon and burasari. He went down toward Holiday inn and then up along the beach front toward the Novotel and then back down around the Paradise hotel which looked a bit hairy. He takes his OH&S seriously as he had a pair of shorts, T shirt, fliflops/thongs, No helmet and a digital camera wrapped around his wrist that looked like it was swinging back and forward very close to the prop.
Even the Thai taxi bikes at the Banzaan market car park thought it was a good show and offered a running commentary throughout the whole thing. Seems he gets out and about every now and again as I saw him a few times. Anyway I will locate some photos and post when I get a chance

Crikey, sounds like an accident waiting to happen....hope he doesn't damage any innocent bystanders when the fateful day arrives.
