I will be back in Thailand this September again for 8 months. I have 3 60 day visa entries. Does anyone know if I can extend 30 days on each of the 60 days at the immigration office in Phuket. Thanks

yes you can.. Each one can be extended for 60 + 30 days making 3x 90 days..

Costs 1900 baht each time and must be done at the exact end of the 60 day stay (or best biz day).. Also make sure your last enry is used right before te 6 month expiry (just fits with the 2x90 days) as you can get 60 days + the 30 extension on the lastentry and all the day before the visa expires..

I did check out the thaivisa site, but i couldn't quite understand things... is the non-immigrant O easy to get? or is this 3x entry 60 day visa the best way to go for an extended but not permanent stay?

assuming they are both easy to get (from thai embassy in US), the non-immigrant O would be the best choice obviously, in case plans change and I want to stay longer than 9 months... the other thing was, i didn't want to have to be so structured with my time, i'd like to possibly check out some other countries in SE Asia and am not sure about being limited to 3 entries...

Once you've used up your entries it's easy enough to go somewhere like Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days and get a 60day from the Thai embassy there.

I obtained my 30 day extension 2 weeks before my 60 day expiration. Did this in Patong and the additional 30 days was added on top to give me 90 days total. Have you had a different experience?

No, same same for me, I've had the 30 days added to a 60 before.
