From what is understood and it is constantly changing, you have a visa issued by a Thai overseas mission, so these new rules dont apply to you.

For each entry, the 60 days can be extended with another 30 days. So no problem.

And the main part of what they are restricting is the visa on arrivale or visa waiver agreement..

A pre applied for an issued tourist visa is a totally different thing..

Ranong Observations

Greetings--

Just made another Ranong run, this time I drove instead of used a tour service. Noticed two things of import:

(1) At the Immigration Center a swarm of Burmese "repatriates" being herded about, beaten over the head, and shoved into a cattle truck. Nutts to butts, males and females together. The new immigration rules are not to be triffled with.

(2) Burma now charges $10 for their visas but instead of two days they are now good for two weeks. 14 days in the Honey Bear Hotel... one shudders at the thought.

I have seen the Burmese truck before (and the holding cell jammed to the rafters).. Dont think its a new development (not doubting you.. Of course it could be worse) but would put it down as possible co-incidence for now..

14 days at the Honey.. Dear lord..

Everyone I know is VERY leary of the Ranong trip after Oct 1st.. Mainly due to the fear of being stuck in Vic Point somehow.. Cant imagine anywhere I would less like to be stuck in no mans land.

Reports from Ranong will be closely watched... Did immigration say anything.. Was there any ideas of how they intend to work ??
