my TGF says her brother can spnsor me for a type B visa and that is hsould send a photocopy of my passport and marks from my schoold and 6000b.

is this an ok way to go? She has never asked me for moeny before and i understand her brother id in business and apperantly willing to sponsor me.

I dont have the 3 million up front paid in capital. I plan to travel thailand and purchase items for resale in canada and plann to make several trips a year.

What are my alternatives? what should i look out for?

If you have a company back home you can write your own sponsor letter.. The company doesn't need to be Thai (or didn't a couple of years back at a friendly consul).

Company letter, company corporation docs, your passport... ummmm Oh yes i had my resume as well. Did it in Singapore, at the thai embassy on orchard. Go in the morning, take a number, fill out a form, hand in your paperwork, pay your 85 sing dollars, and pick up your visa the next day from 2pm.

Example letter for Non Immigrant "B" visa Thailand

Have a look at The Royal Thai Consulate of Hull and especially http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/pdfs/Ac...isa%20Pack.pdf that is based for UK nationals but gives you an idea of the rules and the same application process.

Consult your local embassy and consul (and or shop around.. I hear Houston is known to be 'friendly') for what they want to see.

Sorry frozen, I'm not so sure about your case as you are not looking to apply for a work permit, but i assume the procedure is the same. I could be mistaken though.

Company letter should state, what is the purpose of your visit/why the company is hiring you etc. Then follow steps above... When you get your visa, its valid for 3 months and within that time you need to apply for your work permit. But if you're just planning on entering and exiting from time to time, to buy things for resale in canada i don't see why you would need a non immigrant b visa...

As outlined in the visa package I linked.. You can apply yourself (through your own company) or through another home country company or through a Thai company.. Or be looking to expand your company here.. Or etc..

Just ask your consul what they want to see.. Also make sure you get a multi entry.. A non B can be a single and then extended for 1 year when you have (or apply for ??) your work permit but thats no use to you as you wont follow through with the WP from ministry of labour. Just look for a 1 year multi entry.
