Where to buy a build it yourself Desk top PC in Phuket?

Im looking for the best place to get a built it yourself desktop PC built.
Best in terms of hardware, service, price.

I stumbled into a computershop on south end of Rat-U-Thit right by the Decompression chamber location today, that has what I need, but its fair to shop around.

What are the top specs today for a hard core gaming machine, yes, I want one that can run hardcore graphics that the games today and one year from now come with.
Motherboard? ASUS Intel dualcore 2 etc..?
What CPU speed?
Graphics card?

I am not up-to-date regarding hardware since moved to Thailand, but I still thinks is a good idea to buy just little bit lower than top of the line as its more value for the money and latest things always cost lot more and quickly becomes cheaper after few months.

BigC have a few shops that can custom build for you, the big "Digital" shop also have some good Asus gamer cases with good cooling (look like Formula 1 car style), otherwise you may have big trouble with over heating, Like I had before replacing the case. Todays fast CPUs and graphic cards is a lot more sensitive to heat than older computers.

I just built one for a friend. It is pretty top of the range and cost about £700, but that was without a monitor. I used the reccomended specs needed to run Company of Heroes, and tried to up them when I could.

I go and find the invoice for the parts and put them on here as soon as I get it out of my 'filing system'. At least this will give you a rough cost comparrsion with online shops back here in the UK.

Dave the computer man will custom make to spec.. He is a good person to deal with and covers part warrantees and service.

Will let you spec / price yourself.. Always beats Big C prices for me. Though custom build usually will lose compared to a packaged box I think.

I can sms you his tel..

I need a whole round of upgrading for vista..

Currently looking at building myself a new machine, here's what I'm specing

CPU, definitely go Intel dual core 2 at least E6600 as this starts the 4mb cache.

Mobo, minimum spec
  • SATA II
    PCIE16
    FSB 1066

My choice here is Asus P5B

RAM - 2Gb Corsair PC8500 DDR2

Video - Gigabyte 7950GX2 1Gb, 2 cards SLI'd together

HDD - HDASEA1103 (ST3500630AS)
Seagate (ST3500630AS) 500GB SATA II HDD - 7200RPM, 16MB buffer

This is obviously a very high end spec and will probably be about AUD3K (THB85K).

When I was living there, the newer top end parts where difficult to obtain, I hope things have changed.

I used to use BUS at Big C (recommend) and U2 up past Lotus, but they were abit over priced.

I just came back from Digital in Big C, they are ordering parts and setting it up in a big ASUS Gaming case for me.
Phoned up a mate of mine, he went on Toms Hardware guide I think and drew up nasty specs for me, Im not into overclocking, so he said the ASUS P5 something Deluxe Motherboard was the way to go:

Motherboard ASUS P5 something deluxe, with dual core 2 something CPU (2.9 ghz?)
2GB Ram
Video ASUS Geforce 7950 I think
HD Seagate, something over 200GB I said

If you look at any system requirements nowadays im sure that you will find the bottleneck to be the video cards in most cases. And you pretty much picked the 2nd hottest out there. While 8800GTX might be better its also much more expensive, the biggest thing about it tho is that 8800GTX supports DirectX 10, while 7900 does not.

If i were to buy a computer now i would most likely go in this direction too, however i would most likely skip the dual CPU's, even tho they add that extra power to make it last a little longer, i have a hard time to see when its gonne be used, unless you are gonna use the computer for very heavy editing, or rendering such as 3d and animation rendering, and also movies ofcourse.

Word of advice tho: the computer you just ordered requires a shitload of power, the video card by itself is a big powerhog and dual CPU aswell. Make sure you get a quality power supply.

Actually, some of the specs were changed after my first visit.
Some items couldnt be aqquired they claimed.

As it looks now, Im picking it up tomorrow with the following specs, taking directly from the slip of receipt I got:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6600
MB: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
RAM: Kinbgston DDR2 533/1GB x 2
HD: Seagate Sata 320 GB x 2
Graphics: Asus EAX 1600 Pro / 512 (ATI Radeon card)
Drive: Asus DVD-RW
Tower: Asus Vento 7700 (Gamer tower)
Power: UPS Power supply
LAN: 108mhz Wifi card
Screen: BenQ FP91G+ (19 inch Flatscreen)
System: XP Pro (not copy)

Price: 85.815 Bath.

Im not that much into puters hardware to say if there is a bottleneck creating anywhere, or if this card is better than the other, I went with a friends recommendations where I could and what the store guy recommended and said he could get.

Well as an avid gamer myself...and former owner of an IT-game cafe..im building my own pc's all the time.

I just built a new one...for the comming of vista.

Specs.

MOBO: ASUS CROSSHAIR Republic of Gamers Series

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6 GHz

RAM:2x1 x 2 GB (2 GB) / DDR II SDRAMCL3 / 400 MHz

Graphic card: ASUS EN8800GTX/HTDP I could sadly only afford 1 this time.

HD drives:2x WD Raptor WD740GD

Power: SilverStone Zeus series ST65ZF 650 Watt / Intern / AC 115/240 V / 47 - 63 Hz

This system is a powerhog. and i will not overclock it...since i cant estimate what kind of power it would need.

DVD Burner: Sony DRX 820UL

CD drive: i use this for my old games..and photo cd's Samsung x52

Cabinet: HFX Media PC Case BLACK/BLACK ,
this cabinet is passiv cooled..so no noise from vents or anything. a bit expensive..but with a very warm system like this its genius.Remember the Intel Machines develop far more heat than an AMD system..the new dual cores from Intel, may perform slightly better than the top AMD models..but i like AMD, and this system can run anything out there, and things to come.

As my dispplay i use the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" widescreen LCD Flat Panel Monitor.450 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 . Its a big screnn but flawless and so nice to look at. I also use this system as a HD recorder..with a connection to my broadband provider.

As some have allready pointed out.. there are quite a few bottlenecks...in the highend systems..which means it does not utilize its full potential.

But always have this as a rule..a good G-card...Good(enough) RAM and a stabil processor.

For online gaming..its almost almost your Providers speed and the server connection from the game provider which determines your succes.

any questions feel free to PM me.

Currently playing EVE-online and Battlefield.

I have left PC gaming for now.. Gears of war on 360 is just eye popping up on a HiDef projector and 5.1 system.. Havent been gaming for a while and it has blown me away..

Just wish they would either allow keyb and mouse control or make a FPS controller with a trackball for aim..
