Web Hosting in TH? ASP or PHP programmers?
Looking for some web hosting here... I usually use godaddy.com in the states. They have a 1 year deal pre-paid like 2000 bath for a year! I get 10gb server space (i think) and 250gb of transfer per month. As you can see - the price is hard to beat.
Anyone have a linux or windows host here in LOS that is worth shouting about? Anyone know an ASP or PHP programmer that can help me do some things for one of my web sites for very reasonable rates? Thanks in advance for any help, VJ

I believe most hosts in LOS still have their servers physically based in the States anyway so I don't see much scope for savings here.

Why would you want Thai servers ?? The rest of the world will find sites very slow, due to lack of international bandwidth.. I guess maybe you have a Thai only site plan ?? If so I can see some small benefit in higher domestic speeds but even that is not much of a gain.

Just trying to find out what the state of things is for hosting in TH.
Is it true that all thai servers are slow? Are there no hosts that can serve sites quickly internationally? Bandwidth is bandwidth - so if a host has big pipes it would be able to send web sites out quickly. Are there NO big pipes here?

Thailands international bandwidth is all routed through a government monopoly called CAT (communications Authority of Thailand) as such I am told that bandwidth to tier 1 ISP's is approx 50x the normal global equivalent costs..
So yes bandwidth is bandwidth but here is costs many multiples more and hence companies are always lieing about what they have, what they provide, and high contention (for users) is the norm. It is not in any way competative for a site to host inside a region with a government monopoly overcharging them..
