DHL to Phuket
A mate asked me to find out if DHL is an option as he has access to a DHL account (i.e. He isn't paying!!) and was wondering if there is a suitable address out there to which he could have another mate delay sending some personal effects straight from Iraq to?
I have had a smooch around the 'Search Facility' with little success.
Any hints and tips for my mate would be appreciated. Thanking you.

Your a bloody star Searanger. I'll check that out with the DHL office here and get a costing.
I'll make sure my mate doctors the contents lists so that none of the weapons show up on there!
Only kidding........It'll just be my mates under crackers, swimmin' thongs and other gentlemens requisites in size medium!
Steve, it'll be a mate sending it...........on behalf of my mate who is going to send it later.............for my mate................Probably!

Yes DHL does work (as does UPS who I have had better dealings with) but they are both terrible for adding customs clearance fees on merchandise.. Item value + shipping cost, add DHL clearance fees, add % import, add % something esle.. All % on % on % compounded..
Though if your mate is just billing a corporate account then no worries..
As Dodge, if you need an address and storage PM me.

Thank you for the offers of collecting and storing fellas, it is appreciated.
My mate had a look at what he has here that would be of use over there last night and apart from the second-hand grenades, weaponry, some solid gold bathroom fittings with SH engraved into them which could probably be made into a nice set of earings and a matching necklace.......Oh! and an old love sock..............There probably isn't enough to justify the consignment!
He said it isn't worth sending clothes, towels, toiletries and the small cat he has befriended as he can probably get all that very cheaply over there.
Thanks again, it is appreciated.
D's mate
PS I have sent Nels something big and heavy in the post to NZ.......Can you guess what it is yet?

Whoever you use make sure that the goods sent are very well wrapped cos dont know how many different people will be handling them as they go across the world. If you are using cardboard, make sure it is very strong and if poss get some with a shiny finish as this will let alot of inital water run-off rather than soak-in!
If it is a corprate account, then you should be able to show the collection driver whats in side the box, or if you bring it to them, the office worker and they can sign for contents when it passes customs (Well you could when I worked for TNT a few years ago). If this happens make sure the box is resealed properly and tightly. As you be suprised to see what condition people send stuff through in.
Oh and never think of using TNT as ive seen them in Phuket and BAngkok.

Thanks Sishow, good advice. I would have been using a black military trunk we call 'battle boxes' pretty solid, space for packing lists, spare keys for customs etc and hand delivering to DHL at the airport or at least my mate would! Doh!............Good advice and it's appreciated sishow, thanks.

WHen I used to work for TNT, they had the contract for shipping alot of these 'battle boxes' around. I would still make sure that these are tightly packed if anything breakable is included. Cos if they are heavy, they will be moved in the most efficant way poss. From personal experience, I have seen these slightly smashed! BUt it is better than the RAF, who used to ship their crews personal goods just in cardboard boxes. They used to weigh anything up to 75kg. When picked up, if the box was still intact, the stuff inside wasn't. Cos they were thrown or rolled (as not everyone is a strong as me!).

D.Man , you really are a cheap b@stard !!!! Just get an economy flight like everyone else , squeezing yourself into a "little" box isn't really going to save you that much money.
P.S Just make sure there are enough air-holes,
............and definitely have a pee before you get "posted" !!!!!!!

We used a company called Hogg Robinson if I remember correctly. The guys in Cyprus moving my stuff were supposed to put my washing machine on a pallet then bubble wrap, cardboard and banding. They didn't use the pallet!
The bloke with the forklift at the port in Limassol obviously thought there was a pallet somewhere under the wrapping and aimed his prongs accordingly! It made a lovely rattle as the blokes man-handled the washing machine up the stairs to my new flat in Berlin!
My then missus was impressed with the two slices through the front of the machine.............The 2000 fags I had stashed in the drum survived though! 5555555

I sent a mate FedEx to Bolivia this morning for a test run. I'm hoping he rings me by about Thursday or he may be having problems!
There are six bottles of water and a bag of Monster Munch in the corner of my office...........I was certain I had put that in there for him!
He's tough, He'll be fine.................

My french nom de plume was Denviere at school.
I was asking if your dog bites is a classic bit of Sellers in the Pink Panther.
"Does your Dog bite?" Asks Clouseau
"No he doesn't" replies the Clerk
Clouseau pats the dog, it growls and snaps at his hand.
"I thought your dog didn't bite!!!
It's not my dog..............Class IMHO
"Do you have Urhoom?"..........Just makes me smile
