How does the bar owners stay now?

How does bar owners get visa for all year? Im curious because the last one i spoke with still did visa runs. With the new visa regulations though, is that still possible? Or do you have to get a work permit now?

If i understood it right you can get a 3-4 month visa from the Thai embassy then extend the visa 3 times by doing visa runs. But that still only good for 6-7 months. And also i read that you have to stay out of Thailand for the same amount of time that you have been visiting.

I can see how some people could use the bar/restaurant or whatever to get an investment visa before the visa regulations was changed. But what other options are there unless you are married?

Enlighten me please

If you have a biz you can get a non imm B.. good for one year and 90 day visa runs..

If you take min wage (50 - 60k per month) and pay taxes and have 4 thai employees (all on salary) and have 2 mil paid up capital you can have a WP and not do the visa runs.. Some exceptions to the above if using BoI companies..

The information you have is confused.. They are currently saying that you can only have 3 visa on arrivals in 180 days.. So you can get a single entry tourist visa (60 days and then extend for 30 more) and then do 3 x 30 VOA's, then repeat.. This is all a bit up in the air as this only changed around Oct 1st and no one has yet hit the 3 x 30 barrier yet..

No plans to be moving down anytime soon Marc26, even if we wanted to.

But it may happen later on, first of all though, she's gonna get her MA over here and learn Swedish, while she do that ill be working, once done with that she'll be working and ill learn Thai. After that we'll see.

Im just curious about how its gonna work with the visa's now, thats all.

But from all the responses ive read so far there are no long time sollution at all regarding the new type of visa's? I guess ministry of labor is gonna get a shitload of applications for WP's in the beginning of next year then? or perhaps the district office in Phuket will be registering a marriage for each bar owner

Above is more of imporatance to receive your extensiojn of stay on basis of your workpermit. You can have more easily a workpermit and still do visaruns every 90 days. It is rather common to confuse the rules set by immigration and the labour department.
