invitation
maybe a silly question but gonna be trying to get a visa for someone to come to england for a little bit and she said i had to give her ( as far as i could tell) a letter inviting her to come and visit! now if anyone could shed some light on this ie if i have got to write a letter what would be the best things to put in it to make it sound good or is it a simple "do you want to come visit" on a bit of paper. any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers

I'm sure others can give you better advice than me over tourist visas (I assume that's what you are applying for?), but asking for fromal letters of invitation is all part of the visa process, there's nothing unusual in that.
They will very likely be looking for you to demonstrate that there is somewhere for her to stay (your house) and that you have a job (pimps need not apply).
I would say do what she asks and keep an eye on the process yourself, she might make a balls of it.

Hi Liam,
There's more to that than just a invitation letter. It's a quite a complex journey to get this done, but if you educate yourself beforehand and prepare with caution, you can do this even without help of an agency.
Take a look at this forum: Thailand-UK Forums - Powered by eve community
They have a very large section on Thailand -> UK Visas. Really everything you need to know is there.
Good Luck !

But use the google search engine it will find most of what you are looking for.

I think you should be prepared for a delay , it's not like at home , if you have not even started applying yet it may take some time.

Congrats, well done.
Scroll up to your initial innocent question for a invitation letter and see what else you had to provide and how much more you know about it now ;-)
It starts with a letter and ends up with a huge file of your own life.

It makes sense, because buying a house could be a temporary thing where as getting your girl over from Thailand is forever ;-)
Enjoy the summer !
