skypein & skypeout call quality in Thailand

Anyone have any good or bad experiences with skypein and skypeout within thailand?

Vonage works great but just checking for cheaper alternatives.

Tried it last year and it was crap although skype to skype was crystal.

I do not skypein to a pc in Thailand...but i do call Thailand from my skype account on my PC...no problem so far.....i call a cellphone and the line is crystal clear.

SkypeOut works fine for me, only some service lines are crackly and drop out but I don't think that's actually Skype's problem but rather their lines are often rubbish anyway. I remember the sound quality on them being bad back home.

I'm thinking about SkypeIn for the future but for now we can do without. There's a cool wireless Skype handset from SMC, you don't even have to have the computer on to use it - I'll be looking for that later I think.

S-S, S-In, and S-Out all work good to north america and the UK. Video also works good. I find you really need 512k up for them to hear you well. Quality comparible to Vonage. I still tend to use Vonage a little more.

Quality has dropped since the earthquake but should be fixed soon.

Try voipdiscount.com much cheaper, same stuff, quality im not sure about but i would think its about the same.

I use Skype between computers but voipdiscount for calling.

You also get 60 or 90 days or whatever free talk time to Thailand, by just adding 10euro to the account.

Voipdiscount offers free call to thai mobiles.
I still have some credits with Skype so I use it to reach a destination that's not free with voipdiscount.

Skype quality has been pretty awefull for the last couple of days. I hope they get those cables fixed soon.

Skype and just about any external internet is like watching paint dry. Its weird because its really intermitant, you'd think it would be slow all the time.

sorry to ask folks ,,as i'm new ,,,,,,,,but what is skype,,,i have been asked by a friend to do this but have'nt got a bloody clue ,,,it would also be honest to say i'm crap with computers to ,,,lol any help would be gratefull

I receive calls to my skypin here in Samui (on the phuket-info site as I intend to move there in july).
I receive calls from the UK, and they have no idea that they are calling thailand! My customers find it a bit odd when I tell them I am just switching off the fan (when its 0 degrees in the UK).
When Im not in I forward calls to my thai mobile. When I am a sleep I forward to my answerphone.
Occasionally there is static online, and a time lag, but it does not effect my business. A lot of the time it is crystal clear.
Skype have also launched a service called skype pro in the UK, I will now pay £1.50 per month and I get calls to landlines in the UK free.
So too sum up Skype is awsume! and no I do not work for them!

I kinda like Gizmo also.. Pretty flexible at outbound calling to mobiles and Landlines.. Incoming in multiple countries etc...

I've been using SkypeOut and SkypeIn for a while now and not just here in Thailand. My previous Company had it as standard PC to PC in Iraq, Dubai and Jordan and it definately dropped the bills on the 100+ Iraqna GSM handsets I had to dole out.

Kikatek.com | (CIT200-UK) Linksys CIT200 Cordless Internet Telephony Kit - I purchased the Linksys (Cisco Systems) Cordless for £25 (Dutyfree over Amazon grab back) and quite happily sit by the pool making my free calls or on the speaker if bimbling around the apartment. My SkypeIn number places me in Edinburgh, therefore, local 'after 6PM' landline call rates for Parents with no computer.

Of the 10 Euro SkypeOut I put on there about 2 months ago there is over 7 Euro left...............Then again........I'm Billy No-Mates! 555555

Hi keeperlit,
i will try as easy as possible. It is a program you download (put on) on your computer. Than you can use your computer like a telephone. If the guy you are calling also has this software the call is free (no matter in which country). If you call a regular phone (home or mobil) you have to pay for the call but it is cheaper.
