Great.. Days spent in the sun working for a cap and a couple of shirt (that I am guessing they want you to wear on each day)..

Well I know it is of no interest to you Lil but to golfers it is a good fun couple of days, so I volunteered myself and Duncs, see how we get on.

Cool Unpaid labour

I agree with LiL - unpaid labour by the cheapskate organizers.

I suppose for golf freaks it is a good opportunity to see some big names and watch for free.

A pint of Kilkenny to the first one to bring Big Easy into Faultys for a pint.

You never get paid for this duty at any golf tournament (to my knowledge anyway), my friends in the states used to do it each year when the tour played Bay Hill, they were then given a couple of free rounds. Means nothing to non-golfers but you can only play Bay Hill if you are a member so it was special to be able to play there with them.

And also take into consideration, I've only just mentioned we might be doing it and there is the added benefit of a free pint of Kilkenny's from you, now how to get the big easy down to soi sunset????

Firstly..........I ain't big and I'm definately not easy!

Done a couple of tournaments in the past and quite enjoyed it. One at Sun City in South Africa (SA Open) I had to because I was working security there but it turned out to be a daft competition between us as to who could be in camera shot with the more famous players at the end of the day. Yep, we video'd it!

Also did the Open at St Andrews whilst in the Army. They used to ask us to help with the communications. Provision of equipment, training etc and then hit the beer tent in uniform to schmoooz with the posh bints! Again, had to do it more than volunteer to do it.

If you're a golfer and that's your bag (Golfbag if you will) then I hope Dodger and Duncs have a great time and get all the freebies that go with it.

I do believe it can be quite fun depending persons interest, and usually I would think many golfers will be quite happy to help not for the caps or t/shirt but for the fun of being part of a very interesting event.theres always a feel in the tournament that cant be felt on T.V
Can see where Denver is comming from. I used to worked as a events services executive for APGA help organised tournaments in H.K,philipines, singapore, thailand, pakistan, india,m alaysia etc.also worked with China PGA for the Volvo tour.that was history but I do say I enjoyed it.

I would be more than happy to help for free, could be good fun.

(As for unpaid work, think more than a few hashers volunteered for triathlon one year ago)

The Hash guys have "covered" the Triathlon for many years , I think a "donation" is given to the Hash. Also , there are usually a couple of the Hashers taking part in the event.(Mad B@stards !!!!)

I have volunteered my services for many years doing the Australian Superbike Championship.
I have also helped out at Phillip Island too, for the World Supers & MotoGp.

For me it's not about getting a free t-shirt & cap.
It's all about being there & up close with the riders & action in a sport I'm passionate about.
Why would I pay a $80+ entry fee to spectate, when I can help out & get fed & have a few beers with riders/teams after the event?

There are one or two other advantages also............see below

All over the states they get volunteers for events.

I wouldn't volunteer unless I get to work the "booze tent"

Not directing traffic unless they want a situation (where's Robert?)

Answer "I saw him in the booze tent" .......directing traffic
