RE Posting boxes to Phuket
Hi
I will be relocated to Phuket in a few months for work. I want to send some of our personal stuff, cloths, books etc and as they call it 'Household effects' maybe some kitchen stuff, and some small electric stuff e.g. hairdryer, food blender, etc (I know you can get this stuff out there but save us buying some of the stuff and have a allowance for moving). Max about 2-3 Cubic Meters.
I have read through many threads and the info from the Thai customs site but am still a bit unclear.
My main question is has anybody posted boxes of peronal belongings out to Thailand or Phuket. Is this a feasible way to send stuff. I believe I could send a 20Kg IKEA style box for about 80-100 Euro from Europe. Will there be many problems on the Phuket customs end, I read on the Thai customs site that you can post one batch of boxes up to the value of 20,000 Baht, does anybody know if this is related to specificlly importing new products or does this limit also relate to your personal used items/household effects.
My ears are open to any better options you may have re sending stuff, sea/air Freight etc
Many thanks
Yoggie

I sent stuff from Sweden when I moved here, the tax was negotioable and I paid and the airport staff did personally deliver to my apartment.
If you have a ticket out of Thailand within 6 months there may be no tax.
For me, it was cheaper to send stuff here and pay tax than buy everything again as new.

You get charged Tax.. Even when you legally shouldnt get charged.. You do..
Hit and miss.. The more your stuff is worth.. The more they can ransom it back to you for.. The final straw for me was when they looked at my marble speakers (7500 USD worth) and said they might need to crack them open to look inside !! Negotiating hardball !!
