Not sure about any of the legalities.
Not trying to be a wet blanket.
But the Thai's are really mad about there national sport muay thai. Is Teakwondo popular in Thailand? Good luck!

Tkd
Doing it by myself for many years I would say TKD has a good chance in Bkk.
It is more popular for the middle and upper class of the society in Thailand, though being still national sport no.1 Muay Thai is rather representing the socially poorer class. (No downgrading meant)
TKD is not that bloody and aggressive as well does it attract many women's attention.
There was (still is?) a school in Phuket Town but since there is only a small population in Phuket it was never frequented much.
Obtaining a license cannot be that difficult if you have a trainers license. Its a korean sport so they will let you operate. Talk to a lawyer.
Good luck

hi rkang2005,
I dont really have business experience with TKD here. What I know is that there was and still is a run from schoolgirls and university students to TKD. Be it because of learning self defence or just doing some sportive activity. It is the soft alternative to Muay Thai and attracts usually the richer class of the society.
Your business if really started seriously should be located very close to a university in Bkk. When you start distribute some flyers with your picture on it and arrange a nice introductive demonstration. The girls will come and have a look. Well, also guys of course. Offer some courses for females only and some mixed. When the girls are there the boys will come.
Regards

PeterG,
You have great ideas and you know well about Thailand. I have been training Taekwondo since 5 years old in Korea. I have 6th degree Blackbelt from WTF and now I have Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Yamasaki Academy.
I had stayed almost two years in Thailand for training Muaythai. I really think that TKD is more for middle and upper class, kids and lady. Muaythai will be great for someone who have striking experience before and getting better on self defense. Now I teach TKD and Muaythai at my school in US and muaythai start to grow slowly in here.
Here is websites for Muathai camp!
They have great camp, good luck!

Probably the best serious gym on the island will be Tiger Muay in Rawai IMO.. I was told by a buddy who used to join thier fitness training / runs and do basic sparring (ex golden gloves himself) that they have started with MMA / grappling / floor work training also..
If you go to the local fights a bit you will see Tiger consistently turns out good fighters and champs in the local thai scene.

Found a good Muay Thai place outside Yates' Wine Lodge in Rochdale early Saturday morning. Lots of Kicking, grappling, floor-work and the Police came along to watch but got bored and waded in with these Nunchuka looking metal poles and threw the contestants in a van.............Brilliant.
