Thai boxer picture
Can one of you good people do me a favour.
you know as you come down through kata phuket the are a couple of artist painting shops ,
what i want to know is,the is a big (ish)picture of a Thai boxer kneeling down in the praying position on all fours(the same as they do when showing homage to their trainer and school) how much they will charge for the picture ,how much to ship it to the UK and how big the picture is? just so i know if it will fit on the wall of the guests bedroom that i am starting to redecorate.
oh a contact would be good.
guess its a bit much to ask but any help would be welcome, otherwise i have to wait untill my next tour and by then the wife will have changed her mind (if she hasnt already )
thanks guys

I have bought a few bits of oil work for myself and others sent back to Euro.. Shipping is cheap, they roll it with cling film on the oil side and secure in a pipe.. Posted by EMS was not enough to remember (1000 ?? 1500 ??) and took only 7 - 10 days.
The painting price depends more on the quality of artwork and detail than just the size.. I know one artist who doesnt have a thing for sale at less than 15 - 20k but hes an exception and does one off original work only. Bearing in mind I haven't bought anything in a couple of years and prices may have changed, I would estimate that a large piece (say 3.5 - 4ft width by 2.5ft depth) with a high quality detailed piece on it.. Would be 5 - 8k.. under 5 would tend to be a bit slap happy with the artwork quality and personally I would always spend the extra bit to get a really nice piece as it will last years.
I have seen a pic of the sort you describe at a shop here in town.. If you want me to casually enquire the price next time I pass I have no problem doing so.

Tell us what size you want Ian and can tell you the cost. Had quite a few paintings done for my Nephew in the UK. The artist just copied pictures he sent me via the internet, that I printed on a colour printer and the results were brilliant. Oil on Canvass, no frame as lil said, you need to send in drain pipe, 6ft by 5ft about 10k, 4ft by 3ft about 5k (so about same same as Lil estimated).
I will go off now and search my history of pictures as he did a fantastic painting of Thai boxers in a split screen sort of picture, for an american dealer. Fantastic cos it captured all the essence and atmoshere of a fight. If I can find it, will add it here later.

I picked up a few nice pieces in the post-tsunami sales. Got 3 @ 3x4 foot for around 3,000 together but that was obviously a special deal and there was some risk regarding the drying and possible sea water damage. Once they dried off they were just fine and obviously have some extra character.

Over on Samui they have some injet oil on canvas printing system.. Can get pieces done up custom at prices that are literally poster price.. Sub 1000 baht for large ones.
Purists may cringe but I saw some that were done to roder for a Dutch mate and they looked just fine to me.. I have never understood why theres no injet oils printer on Phuket !!
Last time I was on Samui I tried to find him.. Was sent to the east coast side but never managed to sort it out.

Don't the colours fade after a few years, with the inkjet system?

Not sure.. Might do in bright sunlight ?? I tried to get some done but failed as I ran out of time..
I wanted some large custom ones (jason brooks again) and for custom large format they simply wanted too much for me to have 3 or 4 done by hand.

I heard the painters mafia got to this guy. Just a bunch of luddite bandits under all that artistic pretentiousness.
