You expat men in phuket are UNBELIEVABLE!!
Hi all....i just need to say one thing to all you expat men living here on the island.....and that is a BIG THANK YOU.
Before i moved here (a few weeks ago) i had read around a few forums (not so much this one) to get a feel for what life might be like for a young expat woman in Thailand...... and found what seemed like endless rantings of expat men about how much they wished all girls of their respective home countries would disappear.
So I was quite nervous about moving here, fearing i'd feel the full force of this ....but what i have found has been that every guy i have met has been exceptionally friendly, polite, welcoming, helpful and (mostly )interesting. So much so that after having met some of the BM's i have been inspired to join the forum (yes K2 you can take most of the credit for that).
So on K2's encouragement who told me i could possibly be of value on this thing...here goes....
I am, of course, female, just moved here with husband and 8 month old, speak no Thai yet, am renting and looking to build, knew my father in law and one other person before i moved, had only spent 3 weeks here prior to moving, and work from here on biz back in home country.
so i am looking forward to sharing what info i can on my experiences here and to meeting more of the BMs whilst out and about.
Once again thank you so much ... i am having a ball ... so glad i moved here ... and to those of you who i have already met ....it has been a pleasure.

Just don't get tricked by K2 and become a hasher.

Sparkle - dogblower is a legend on the hash - there is some friendly banter from some us old timers on the board at times (Hash Bashing etc etc) ... bear with it ... at time ignore it ...
Come on guys leave out the Hash stuff ...its ok between us (old hands) but unacceptable to start on like that with someones first post.

why, because you already have her locked in?
We just want her to see both sides of the coin before she sits on her first piece of ice.
Well Sparkle, have a good time even though you have already been corrupted by the hash.555555555555
K2, did you ask her if she knows Marsha?
Sparkle, have a great time out there and hope all goes well for you and your family out there.
Did you know that K2 is a great babysitter?

Thanks whuakita, What are you doing in Hell/Wee Waa..(i've been told the terms are interchangable) i am guessing you are over here now.....the last i heard about Wee Waa was a desparate call from my brother escaping from the shocking decision of spending his summer chipping cotton out there...instead of heading off to some tropical island paradise....
the call of dismay was made at the closest petrol station where he had to spend the day waiting as it was so hot the petrol had evaporated or some equally bizarre thing and wouldn't make it into the tank.....it was the longest afternoon of his life so far?

Hi Atm
we moved to Phuket for a couple of reasons.....
1. bit of adventure
2. Lifestyle....here for example i can afford to have a nanny which means i can continue to work (which we now do from our new home here) that has been great...the little guy is here with us all day, i get to spend much more time with him than if i was back in Oz
3. a great base to travel around from..phuket is much closer to most places than is Queensland
4. bit of a biz challenge...can we keep our biz going well with it over there and us over here?.....and if we can than we darn well should.
5. have more fun..
and so far its working out well

Ah yes, poor deluded fellow should not have said his destination was Brisbane instead of Pattaya
