Ant Killer
Being visited everyday by 1000s of tiny red ants which is beginning to annoy me. An aerosol I have wipes them out almost instantly but isn't there something you can put down that they take back to the nest which kills the queen and eliminates the lot of them?

a temporary measure that seems to work is to also spray (quite heavily) the threshold around the door/window where they are getting in. Also a little outside too - the ants follow chemical trails and if they cant detect the trails they go elsewhere.

Best thing is follow the trail back to the source and pour a kettle of boiling water over the little bastards and hopefully will stop the spread....

There is stuff you can put down they take back and wipes the lot out.. Theres stuff you get where you mark a chalk / crayon on the ground and they dont like to cross the line.. And then you can just nuke em with spray..

there is loads of chemical weapons available!
but i think at the end they always win, and the best way that i found:
ignore them!!
(unless they are trampeling through my bed or breakfast
or other things where i really do not want them)

Had the same problem a couple of months ago.
I found some of that stuff that you leave out for them to take back to the nest at Big One and have also bought it before from Patong Deli so it is definitely available. Unfortunately it didn't seem to do much good - they took the lot and came back for more!
Eventually, in despair, I called in the pros and had them spray the house and surrounds. Couldn't go in the place for 3 or 4 days but it certainly solved the ant problem (and cockroaches, and geckos and ...).

I don't want to kill the geckos. They're no trouble at all and I quite like them being around....they eat a lot of the other bugs anyway. The most annoying thing with the ants is them in my clothes. Just murdered another 1000 or so with some spray and found some powder in Carrefour so putting some of that down too.

The little sh1ts are a pain in the a$$. I put the reminants of a curry in the bin a few days ago and the next morning there were an army of them going from a window frame downstairs in a bedroom all the way up the stairs across the living room and into the bin in the kitchen. And the lid of the bin was closed, unreal.
Normally the spray with the little metal pin extention thingy does the trick by spraying all the doors and nooks and crannies on the ground etc. That a few times a week and not leaving any nice snacks lying around for them has generally worked for me. The other bedroom wasn't sprayed for a while hence why they got in.

I am surprised by the local sprays that are on sold here, kill ants and other insects immediately. You can even spray a line on ground and insects walking there starts rattling and dies.
Must be very unhealthy chemicals, we dont have anything like this in Sweden.
Couple of years ago I had an ant nest under a thrash can on the balcony, was killed in seconds by a spray like this.
BTW, to prevent ants in e.g. bed room or whatever, remove food or other sweets and don't leave it behind, the best way to avoid ants coming.

We get the professionals in every month, they spray in all the corners etc of the room, smells decidedly unhealthy, Gee quite often does this strange Thai dance, lying on her back waving her arms and legs in the air, but after say 30 mins, she seems to recupperate and then I notice the ants put up a sign outside warning all their insect buddies to stay away for a month.
Tried stand and deliver song but all the locals were going down like 9 pins thought initially it was my bad singing voice but eventually realised that there was no way they were parting with their hard earned bahties!!!
Alternative that quite often works is to throw your underwear out onto the lawn as this seems to distract them and they tend to congrgate in all the more soiled grolllies, something to do with Einsteins theory of ants in ya pants I think!

Get the pros
There is a company called Blackwater that has time on its hands.:rules:
Only joking - very bad taste
There is a powder that you can lay for them to take back and they will take it home and in theory it will destroy them.
Best advice is as someone else said don't leave any food or scraps out anywhere. It is a good precaution to even keep the sugar and coffee in the fridge. They don't like the cold.

I`m not green by any means, oh no sir. But I am suprised by the responses (nuke `em!). Ants are natures clean up agents - in other words, they will seek out your food spills. So clean up any spills before they come. Also have you noticed that thais keep chickens around? They eat ants.

Here you go, this is the stuff!
Ant Problem? Terro = Ant Control Solutions
This Terro Ant Killer is simply awesome stuff. I've got no ants around here, and I used to have more than all the Roman legions. It is a little clear plastic tray with a clear gooey sugary liquid inside. You take scissors and snip a small slit in the bottom on one side of the tray, where it is marked for cutting it open. Then you put it where the ants have been coming by.
Last time I used it, was at an apartment I am remodelling. I had noticed a lot of ants around. Then I left a bag of banana chips on top of the fridge. Next day, I saw the ants had gotten into it. So I put a tray on top of the fridge, on a small wood scrap, so it wouldn't get on the surface of the fridge, next to the bag of chips. But by that time, the ants were almost finished with the chips, and they never seemed to notice the Terro bait, didn't bother with it at all. Later that day I looked and the ants were gone, finished with the chips. I was disappointed, since this stuff had never failed me, but figured I had just been too late putting out the bait and there weren't enough of them coming by to find it. A few days later, I looked at the bait tray. Completely empty. Never saw another ant around there, and this place had a really bad ant problem. I guess one of their scouts found it, and rallied the troops!!
I can't tell you how many other kinds of ant pesticide products I've used before with mediocre results, at best. The problem was that the ants just did not seem interested in the other stuff. But they seem to love this stuff, since it is basically a very sugary liquid. They take it back to the nest, and another ant civilization is history!
Another good thing about it is that, as pesticides go, it is not really nasty stuff in terms of toxicity for humans. Of course, you don't want to eat it or feed it to your kid, but the active ingredient is just borax, a salt of boric acid, which is used in many soaps, cosmetics, and as a food additive. Wikipedia says, "Borax is used as a food additive in some countries with the E number E285, but is banned in the United States. Its use is similar to salt, and it appears in French and Iranian caviar." Caviar? H-m-m-m, guess the ants figure it is a pretty classy meal for them, a real treat!
BTW, they sell it in different forms, but the trays seems the easiest and most effective one. 6 trays for $8.99 on their website, although I buy it at the store, as all the hardware stores in the US are stocking it now. They say to put out all 6 trays at once. When I first got the stuff, my house was turning into the galaxy of ants, so I did put out all the trays, and probably needed them, as the ant population was easily in the billions and they were overrunning the place and coming in from every direction. But now, if I spot an army somewhere, like at the apartment, I just put out one tray, and presto, in a day or two, no more ants!!
