Getting into Business

I know there is a number of you out there on the board that can help shed some light my way on the difficulties in doing business in thailand.

I will have family that are thai nationals asuming I do marry my gf of 3 yrs.. so I have at least one or two people I would trust with some type of holdings, I guess what I am really thinking about right now is what is missing or lacking in your areas? or is it fessible to make a decent living in the internet cafe/bar area, I've had an offer of sorts as a take over/buy out but to be honest I'm never quite sure if I trust the numbers being told.

I do have a varied background, from bar owner/tender, until now as I am in the computer industry here in the states, so the fit is pretty well as I do know both sides of things.

If you want to know why I want to leave a profitable situation here, well lets just say I never wanted the "normal" life and have dreamed of something more, I know I will never be considered rich by farrang standards, but then that isn't my objective here either.

Know what you mean. I live and work in the UK and earn alot of money. Drive a nice car and have a nice place to live. BUT will give it all up to live in Thailand and have a HAPPY life as this life of rush rush is not for me. Money does not give you happeness,just a false pretense of it.

I am also trying to move to Thailand/Sinapore. Out of interest what type of business are you buying into?
