Traditional Xmas Lunch - where's best place?
I'm looking for somewhere on the island that offers a good traditional xmas lunch. I know there are loads, but one that is recommended by someone who's been there or heard its fandabbydoshoosh.
Went last year to Surin, it was really good, drinks on the beach, popped into the restaurant and had a brilliant meal and great service, but......there's always a but, my friends on the next table had the worse service ever recorded since they first started serving xmas luches anywhere ever, so do not want to risk me getting their waiter, and chef, and non wine serving person and person who brings out fish when you have ordered Turkey and on and on and on....
Gee wants to go to the Green Man, but I'm not so sure and its probably fully booked by now, or it will be by the time I get round to booking it!!!.
So any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance................................ what?
Oh?? if I do not get any replies!! well happy fecking christmas to you lot of miserable, not in the festive mood cnuts!!!!!!!5555555!!!!HO HO HO!!

I've ordered two 'Meals on Wheels' Christmas specials for me and me Dad, managed to up-grade for 30p and get an extra bit of turkey and a double stuffing. Bargain!
I found a 4 pack of Tigers I've had in the fridge for a year so will crack that open. I think my Dads on Newkie browns.
He's having the Chrissy Pudding and Brandy custard. I think I've got the spotted **** but it's clearing up with this cream I got from Boots.

I can only recommend the Swedish one, Karlsson's on 24th. Victoria guesthouse opposite also started to offer it last year. Soi Patong tower was full of festive Swedes on Christmas Eve.

The Irish bar on Bangla, I had some great traditional meals there on my last trip so I`m guessing they will do a good stuffing!

In Kamala
The Ban Rim Klong does a full traditional Chrimbo feast.Alan the owner you might know. The service might be a bit slap dash but it will be like a big family affair.
Other one is Hans Christian Andersen on Kamala Beach Road.

Can also recommend the Karlsson. Have very good steaks. Last week I did have my "last meal in Phuket" there.

Dodger,
there is a great place in Kamala called "Baan Rim Klong" the sunday lunch there is really good and cheap.....if there doing xmas dinner it would be worth a look.
As you come down from Kamala hills into the main st it's basically opposite and to the left a bit just down from the 7/11....
give it a go

Why dont you do it yourself dodger? You could show the rest of the D-Clan how a real western Christmas dinner is done. Then Ollie, Dunc can take it in turn year on year!
Thats what I would do.

Yep, definately head out Dodge. Ask Oiy if she will do a traditional Christmas Joe Blake with some tinsel or summink! Or a Christmas Cottage Pie at Nans with a sprig of holly stuck in the mash. Sorted.
I'll bring some mince pies and more OXO cubes back with me.

What’s with these cubes?!! My English friend here is also raving about not getting a hold of them. Are they the magical ingredient that makes the British kitchen so… erm world-famous and irresistible?

I've been invited to the 500-baht all-you-can-eat buffet at Don's so I think I'll drag the missus and the little monster (her son) over there. She tends to not like farang food (other than Mexican) but perhaps she'll change her tune after trying decent turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes. The tyke no longer will touch Thai food, preferring to eat whatever papa's chowing down on (and throws a tantrum when I tell him to get his own plate!).

5555. Oxo are beef/chicken or vegetable stock cubes and are used by most British housewives to add to the gravy for extra flavouring.
Also, contrary to reports, the British have many fine chefs able to cook 1st class food.

For the past couple years, I've been going to the Christmas Lunch at Summer Breeze. We'll probably be doing the same again this year.
Pretty decent price and the food is great. I love the turkey, stuffing and gravy!

Hadnt planned anything yet - i have done The green man and it was nice food but expensive and veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow service. So wont go again.
Also done O'Tooles which is great food and decent price.
Could be up for Summer Breeze for a change.

Summer Breeze will be serving full Christmas menu....turkey with all the trimmings, ham, with Thai food for uninitiated. Also dessert and white or red wine included. Will start at about 5:00. 550 baht per person, or 1000 per couple. All are welcome on Christmas Day.
Cheers
