TOT internet down?

Anyone else in Nanai area lost their TOT internet connection since that transformer exploded yesterday? Mines been down since then. Really think it's time to change maybe to a WiFi connection.

I am in Nanai 2 using TT&T / maxnet. Its slower than normal but still running. Must be a TOT issue.

TOT in Lala land.. Was superb when I moved in... Last 4 or 5 days has been noticeably poor, not just speed, things like DNS timeouts etc..

Never use the ISP's DNS now, just use OpenDNS much better than any of the ISP's DNS I have used in Phuket. Most of the time my connection was "down" it ended up being dns issues.

TOT down most of the day for me in Chalong/Rawai over IPStar (no sniggering - it's feckin terrible, the latency on the connection is killing me!). Need to get EVDO in soon. Also planning on buying up a bunch of them and leasing them out short term for people...prob combined with an Asus EEE as a package.

@SG, Was talking about that very idea for the missus in the offshore yesterday.. Having 5 or so (depending how it goes) of the USB CDMA 2000 CAT jobs for rental in room internet.

As for OpenDNS I keep them handy in case but find they are a tiny bit slower than using the isp ones. Possibly hard to tell that over a IPStar connection.

I'm getting an eee in next week hopefully, so will have a play and look to order a small batch in the coming weeks. Found out my dentist already has one here, so will be back today to have a play (nothing to do with the fillings I need to go back for today of course!) Already have a short list of interested people, just getting round to thinking about insurance and rental prices/deposit details.

True they are slower being international, but so more reliable than isp's, and I'm too lazy to switch them about.

Would love to have a look at the eee PC when you get it.. I am sitting out until I see if the higher res screen does or does not happen and will pick one up after then.

My thinking was people could leave either thier passports or the full replacement value of 10k as a deposit.. Sure its high but they get it back. Thats of course for a unknown tourist arrangement. If they were known to us then a deposit may not be required.

Am off to the dentist now so will hopefully get to have a play with it.

I'm not too worried about the screen res now as it will be for other people, and they will generally be picking up emails only, browsing and some internet banking I presume. Will go for the 256Mb version for that reason, and then if prices come down for the higher specs move up to them. Might be an idea to stay in touch cos if I am buying in bulk we might be able to get a better price together.

Deposit-wise, thinking the same, not exactly a lot of money and means they know exactly where they stand.

Nice thing is they should take some battering around with the SSD's in them. Interested to see the heat they produce as well.

The message I'm getting is my DSL Connection is down. Before I go to TOT today, as I have my numpty hat on, does that mean the problem is their end or could it be my end?

DSL = Digital Subscriber Line which says to me that the actually line is at fault.

Try rebooting the modem tho.. Also look in the modem configs to see if your signal has gone (line error) or cant log in (usually ISP)...

If its the speedtouch free modem DSL down = line problem.

My line was down once and the router said dsl not connected etc and I thought it was TT&T, and they said everything OK. It was at my end, replacing the router worked fine.

I have replaced my router twice at home and once in the bar, due to becoming faulty.

I think it may be a good idea to try with another router.
