****ing good bar and (considering current extreeme prices down here bangla >6mil 3 year lease) not bad market value..
I know the owners well and can have an ask on what they are after once the bartering is out the way and how long the lease is and if it has a locked in extension price. In fact I am very surprised it is for sale as I was chatting with Kenny the other day and there was no mention.
Bit out of the way location but great food, no lady hassle (I am weird I would not own a bar that takes bar fines.. I am not a pimp !!), good decor, also they are clued into the whole darts / pool / etc leagues which gives a couple of nights a week guaranteed custom of many people even in low season.
All in all its a good place and is a profit making bar is my guess.. Again I am amazed Kenny is getting out !!!
PM me if you would like me to do any negotiations or discussions on your behalf. I know these guys well.

The takeover price sounds high but more important is what the rent or renewal of lease cost so you know you can make profit when running the bar.

Its been up for sale for a long time!!! like selling houses location, location, location: determines price, rent and contract. I know where it is, if you're not in the immediate Bangla area (within 200 metres) or Beach road area, I reckon you will struggle. Just the humble opinion of a current bar owner

Geespot, I agree fully with your opinion even though not being a barowner. Too many people make their lifes mistake in Patong (and even other places of course) not realizing these critical factors at first.

However Bangla is now 6 mil and up for a 3 year contract which is IMHO an insane setup (the octopus is 'reduced' to 12 mil for 3 years !!!) 500k every 3 months in key money alone and all up front most of the time !!!!
As I remember it Champs has a long term lease (dont quote me on this) I think Kenny said they had 9 years on paper currently (but that may be in signed for future renewals eg with a price each 3 years)...
Champs is not your usual piss it up and grab a slapper Patong bar... Its much more a food / relax / sport / etc bar... Seems to do steady trade most weeknights... Looking at whats being asked for say soi easy or soi gonzo bars which look like there is tumble weed blowing accross the street at the moment and you really only have night time action. That said I can get some no key money deals on Soi easy bars if anyone wants to make a go of a bar with no money up front !!!
Terry is keen to sell TJ's Monkey Ba / Go Go... Fancy being a pimp ???

Chopperman,
Just one more advice. Do you research and carefully study any investment opportunity and do it in Phuket, I know many restaurants and guesthouses who are struggling and the last 6 months I have seen many expats giving up and returned home.
Phuket is pretty overpriced. Another advice is to look for plain leases or locations with low takeover price and develop it yourself to suit your needs, e.g. turn a shop or simple bar into a decent sport bar. One example is Baya beach, they bought the old simple thai food restaurant and builded a new nightclub. They pay ~900,000 baht/year for that prime location, less than most smaller bars on main Bangla road pay per year.
I think there is a sport bar on Soi Patong Resort (Opposite Soi Seadragon) also for sale, something you also might be interested to look into and the rent/lease on this street is known to be low compared to elsewhere on Bangla.

having to own business in thailand
To nicke or other bm's
So with the new rules about limiting tourist visa's ect.
Is the only way you can stay in thailand, is if you own a business because that will affect a lot of people who wished to invest in uk but live there with the profits. i know at least one BM might it will affect.
the funny thing with the rules they bring in is it affect the thai's more because you only have to look at soi easy to see that.
the only one that have survived in there is captain kirks, steve's mates at back and a few others all the rest that were run by thai's have closed.
or is there other reasons so many have closed since november because i was in april and there were very few left in there.

For visa info try thaivisa.com or thaiimmigration.com..
If your over 50 and can show 800k in the bank (or 65k per month or combination) you can have a non imm-O
If you marry a Thai and can show 400k in the bank (or 35k per month or combo) you can have a non imm-O
If you have a business that employs 4 or more thais, with paid up capital of >2mil and pay minimum wages (differes depending on country but 35 - 50k depending on Euro / US etc) to yourself and hence taxes, you can get a work permit. With a work permit you can get a multi entry non imm-B.
You used to be able to get non imm-B multi entries on the basis of looking for work but they are no longer doing this.. Single entry only currently.
You can also get multi entry tourist visa's which are 60 days and extend them another 30 days for 90 in total) at a cost of 1900 baht each time... so this lowers your visa runs to 90 days.. These can be multi entry but it depends on the office.. certainly 2x entry is easy 3x entry common and 4x heard of but hardly ever gained !!!
There are also 'special investment visa's' for those that bring in 3 million or 10 million baht into a thai bank and leave it there. Also theres the elite cards which although is a total rip off (1 million baht for a few discounted rounds of golf) does give a 5 year multi entry visa.

The 4 thais rule is only if you are seeking for one year extension, if you are happy to do a visa run every 3 months this is not required. To qualify for work permit 2 million baht is enough and you pay all taxes. The same for minumum wages of 50k (European) or 60k (US), if you renew wp every three months 35,000 may be enough. (According to an article in Gazette)
I am surprised people could get a NON-B multiple entry for just "seeking work", in the past when I first arrived I only got a single or double entry before I could show my work permit.
Regarding living here on a tourist visa, if you can show you get your money from abroad you can still stay here. What the immigration want to do is wipe out people living here and making money illegally, e.g. without work permit and paying taxes. So living here with money from UK investment should be safe. What kind of proof they want to see to verify you live off money from abroad is still unknown. I guess we will find out later this year if they begin to enforce maximum 3 back-to-back tourist visas.
As LivinLOS pointed out, there are many kinds of NON-O that also may be an option for long term residents.

There is no such thing as "Multiple tourist visa". If multiple you can enter Thailand as many times you want during a year and this is not available for tourist visas, only for NON-O and NON-B.
You can get single entry, double entry or triple entry. Maybe 4x but never heard about it.

Yeah 4x entries are given but rarely.. I will updqate you next week as I am hopping down to Panang to see whats happening down there this week..
I think the terminology for a double entry / triple entry or quad entry visa would all qualify as 'multiple entry' visa's
Agreed with you comments about leaving every 90 days on a multi B aif you dont make the full list of qualities for a work permit setup but really if you leave every 90 days anyway why have the hassle of the taxes you must pay.
Looking for work or investigating the business climate for your overseas business to invest into Thailand were common and accepted.. I hear they still may be accepted in your home country but I am not going back to Europe just to sort a visa out.

Just back from Penang getting a visa and as I drove by this AM saw that the Monty was open again but with new chairs / fixtures & fittings... Still had Daves wife there and her sisters / cousins etc so it looks like Dave may have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat..
Will pop by and get the skinny..

Kinda... What specifically do you need to know..
Quad entries are NEVER issued from Penang (so I was told) triples are easy and thats what I got..
Multiple B's ARE still being issued despite apparent rules that they would not be.. In addition to them still being issued the NZ girl I was talking to that got hers did not have her work permit with her or 4 thai employees in her business, she did however pay minimum wage (50k) and have lots of company paperwork (2 mil paid up capital etc)..
Non Imm-O's are as normal (you married or over 50) ??
Now have a VERY good agent down there... anyone needing to do a Penang run can PM me for his contact.. He also does bus service back to Phuket.

Update on the Monty... Apparently Dave has not been in the bar for 10 days or more... It was opened and groups of Thai heavies came and drank there putting off customers and generaly making a bad vibe.
Then the Monty sign was smashed..
Then 2 nights ago 2 local (well knows to many of us) Police along with a few other boys in brown all arrived and a group of thais turned up.. smashed up the sign and some other internal bits.. Closed the shutter and welded it shut.. All in all it was a prety heavy moment according to mates who were there and nearby.
Does not look good.. If the local 'mafia' are getting heavy and the local police are helping enforce it it seems that Dave will have a very tough time of any recovery from this.. TiT !!!

It's a pitty.
I liked him.
Visited him for several years.
Want to visit him again in September.
Maybe he is still around then.
