kiwi guy looking to teach english in thailand

hi! a mate of mine was offered a job teaching english in thailand with an all expense paid airfare from Aussie to Thailand aswell as free accomodation and a car...is this common? there has to be a catch because surely there has to be cons....i would appreciate comments from anyone who resides there or who has hands on exp., who can throw light on the teaching industry in thailand...also, are there many teaching opportunities in phuket or is that area over saturated with eager teachers?

cheers!

According to Stickman's articles it is more common they are poor, low paid teachers. Government schools is likely to pay less than 20k + accommodation.

Most are poorly paid I think Stickman has worked his way up to about 65k per month but this is in a good school in BKK and he's been doing it for years.
