Work Permit Tea Money
Gents,
I have to renew my work permit in a month.
I use a reputable Farang lawyers that I most probably pay too much for but they generally get things sorted OK...except it does sort of piss me of paying the 8000thb Tea Money to the Employment office in Phuket Town. Although I hand it too my lawyers clerks in an enveloppe and never see who gets what...
Who else pays Tea money for WP, anyone get for free?
Cheers,
Sleesy.
Ps Really pissed me off when I forget my re-entry permit at Suvanabhum last time and invalidated my 2 month old visa/WP and had to go through the same bung scenario again...

No tea money required in Bangkok, I don't deal with the Labour Dept, I go to the one stop shop in Phahonyothin.
The actual fees for WP's are very small.

In Bangkok, at Sunbelt these are the approximate costs I have paid: Initial work permit application and first work permit fees 6,500 baht, renew work permit 1900 service + 850 government fee, to suspend work permit if you are out of the country when it expires (which means it expires for good unless you suspend) is 1900 service + 100 government fee.
Apparently the forms are easy to fill out for the extension/suspension so I might just have my Thai assistant do it for me -- yet, it is one of those things you don't really want to screw up, if you know what i mean, so that is why I've used Sunbelt for so long.

I'm not sure tea money will do the trick anymore. I just needed an extension on my date as I will be out of the country on the date I need to get my visa. Apparently there is a new head of Labor here, and she goes right by the book. We had to dot ALL the I's and cross All the T's. In two weeks I needed to go from Labor to Immigration and back four times. There is no automatic rubber-stamping of the work permit at this time. They are making it difficult for EVERYONE. I wish that it was merely a matter of tea money.

Visa not WP
Turns out the Tea money is for a 1 one visa without having to leave every 90 days...Not WP as I stated previously.

Money for visas as well, jeez they rape you in Phuket.
Even when I lived in Phuket I always did all my paperwork in Bangkok.
Just none of this sort of shit, half the time I don't even attend.
