Really tho, everyone needs to be a little less defensive..

There is no right answer, life is compromise (how very zen !!) its simply a question of what compromises you like, what weighting different priorities get.

I will also say my opinion of Lala may have been clouded a lot by going from the mondo villa to a (nice but small) apartment. I dont like communual living very much at the best of times, I like space and privacy, and I had none. Plus my brother plus missus arrived then she lived with us while he went to the uk and returned so for 3 months there was even more people in a small apartment, felt like musical chairs for the TV, and the internet computer, etc. Going from 500sqm to 80sqm is a bit of an adjustment. So I suspect a lot of my dislike and negative mindset came from not being settled in my mind, and knowing that it was a temporary stop.

No ones going to convince me that down in the village tho there isnt a high incidence of break ins. Dennis should be careful what he says about that sleeping security guard.

I see where youre coming from sef but, being aware of the real security you have ensures a false sense of security is avoided.

No I dont have the benefit of a guard that goes toi sleeep at 8pm and wakes uip at 7am as happen on developments. Gues Im gonna misss that.

And you had a pop at me for what reason Dennis???

Sorry I expressed my own opinion about a subject you commenced, I know better argument???? bit confused with that comment??

I just stated that from many conversations with many people over many years, that people generally dismiss benefits of housing as valueless when they change home, but these very features are what allows that particular property to command the rental value it is offered at.

My comments were not aimed nor mentioned you in anyway but were a generalisation.

Just re-read your post Dennis and have concluded with all the mispellings that you probably posted drunk, edited cos I didn't want someone picking you up on the mispellings or poor grammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!555555!!!

May be a bit of a dumb question but if one entered into a long-term rental agreement on a property could one then re-lease it out to tourists with the aim of making a profit?

Cool The term "Stuck"

I used the term "stuck in Kamala" deliberately as it would accurately describe my situation if I moved there.

I have no transport and no desire to ever drive again so I would be left cadging lifts and Tuk Tuks all the time.

I live on the outskirts of Patong and everything I need is in walking distance and so it suits me fine.

Usually there is a no re let clause on the landlord and tenant agreement, thai landlords though do tend not to have contracts, only those letting via farang agents.

Nope! Pain in the backside, no smokey bacon crisps, ham and branston sarnies, sizzling pork sausages............or crispy bacon with a bit of brown on a lightly toasted bap.

You don't read a thread for a couple of days, and it goes all religious on your ass.

This forum isn't like "Ronseal" is it?
